By product code I am guess you mean the Windows COA key thats on the bottom of your laptop? If so that key will only work with a Toshiba windows cd. If you use a retail Windows CD, Windows CD from another company, or a plain OEM Windows CD then the key will not work.

means whoever installed your windows used a non genuine code ie one thats been used on another computer probably, there is ways to change the product key to stop this message appearing but you will either have to buy one or get hold of a used code. if its windows xp it will stop working, if its vista or windows 7 it will likely still work but some stuff will be limited and u will have non genuine message.

Now that I've got your blood boiling try going to the site on the link below and click it. Download the Product Key Finder and install and run it. it will show you the product key codes for all microsoft products.

If the product key on the label is not for XP then it won't work and you need to get an XP upgrade CD with a XP product code.
