I have a epson printer that does the same thing no matter what i did it would not print anything. The printer companies do that so you will have to buy a new color ink cartridge just to print anything.I think its wrong but who are we to say, when cartridges are $ 50 bucks I think we should have a choice. Sorry I could'nt be more help.
You need a supply of ink in both cartridges in order to print. Even if you are only printing black ink and there is a black ink cartridge with ink in it, your printer will not print without the color catridge installed and it has to have a supply of ink in it. I wish I had better news for you, but unfortunately I don't.
Its purely your CATRIDGE problem...so please open up your printer and check for the two small black colored boxes..in that you can easily identify the B/W one....so if its lighter in weight compared to that of coloured one....you need to refill it or buy a new catridge......THIS is the only solution to this problem..
Sounds like the printer thinks the cartridge is empty.
Old PSC units had a 3 cartridge memory - you kept 3 cartridges and cycled them to trick the printer into thinking it had just received a brand new cartridge, rather than a refilled one.
Black ink is an essential part of the printing process. The black color is only made by the black cartridge, the color cartridge does make "black".
One or more optional photo cartridges may be available, depending on your printer model.
Use the photo cartridge with a tri-color cartridge for best-quality color photos and graphics, and sepia or antique photos.
Choose a gray photo cartridge to print black and white photos with truer grays and richer blacks.
you need to print only in black if that is all the ink you have, and also you need to remove the color cartridge as it still registers in the printer as able to be used, although it is empty or near so. Did you remove the tape over the print head fron the new ink cartridge? Do a print head alignment, or use the toolbox icon to tell the printer that you just replaced the cartridge. Some HP models chip the ink cartridges so even a refill wont register as a full tank and the printer wont print. chip needs to be reset (difficult) or just replaced with a new cartridge.
refilling catridges is not advisable it is better always go for new one .bcoz the ink which is used for refilling it is not good which is damaged the print head and the the catridge nozzle . i will advise you to buy a new actridge and install .
bye
