Whirlpool EHT 141JK 'fridge

Fan is running, but unit is not cooling. Thought defrost timer was bad.....so replaced it with new one today......now the fan won't even run. Nothing is running. Only thing working is interior light. New defrost timer has pin wich can be used on diferent lacations depending on your wiring diagram. I can't find schematics anywhere on unit. Have tried this black pin on # 2, and #1 terminals. Nothing happens at all. I even put the old defrost timer back on, and fan (only) runs. Please help..........ERIC

THE RELAY WAS ARCHING REALLY BAD AND THEN FAILED. MAYTAG SAYS THAT IT IS NOT SERVICABLE, HOWEVER I GOT TO THE RELAY AND IT IS BURNED. IT IS A SMALL RELAY BUT I NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO PURCHACE A REPLACEMENT. IT HAS NUMBERS ON IT BUT NONE PULL UP AS A PART NUMBER. ONE OF THE NUMBERS IS 3012-5A THE OTHER IS 307015 CRPS

DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO GET REPLACEMENT RELAY?

Whirlpool ffw400wh cools nicely for 3 days then form ice on the freezer & does not cool at the fridge compartment

Sounds like your defrost timer is not functioning , it will need to be replaced. Some times the frost free fan can also cause this but I think it will be the defrost timer.
Located under the fridge usually on one of the rear corners.
Pit has like I white round dial on it .

RF266 refrigerator fan not working, Freezer fine. Ref temp at 60 degrees F

Hi mrmac273,

The fan is often a part of the refrigerator that can break down - there are a number of moving parts, and this helps circulate the chilled air. Since fan is not running, cold air from the freezer can't be blown into the fresh food section.

The most common fridge "not cooling" problem is a frost free failure. Remove the access panel in the freezer section to expose the evaporator coils. If the coils in the freezer section get plugged up with frost, this frost will block the evaporator fan motor from blowing the cold air around. The fan blade can also hit this frost and either become noisy or stop altogether. Locating the defrost timer can be tricky....they are often hidden behind the back bottom corners of the fridge at the bottom, in the last few years the timers have been located in the ceiling of the fresh food section, and some behind the cold control cover. Once you locate the defrost timer, slowly turn the screw like wheel in the middle of the defrost timer with a straight screwdriver until the fridge shuts off. You are now in defrost. If the defrost heater(s) comes on now, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater(s) does not come on, you can ohm test the defrost heater for continuity or volt test for 120 volts to the heater(s). If you have no power to the defrost heater(s) you can also bypass the defrost thermostat to see if the defrost heater will come on, join the 2 wires together to bypass the defrost thermostat. If the heater now comes on, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater itself is bad, defrost the fridge with a hair dryer, replace the defrost heater* and defrost thermostat. If the defrost timer seems "hot" to the touch or is noisy ( like a ticking or screeching noise )...replace it.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

The freezer retains frost and obstructes the fan.

Defrost cycling is poor.

Thanks.

My refrigerator side is not cooling well. I see ice behind the fan unit when I take out the veggie drawers at bottom. Also fan on fridge side is making lots of noise. Noise stops when I open the door and...

.When you open the door freezer door will get stopped and so, no sound. It will work only when door is closed. Fan sound comes due to malfunction of defrost. If defrost does in right time it won't happens. Unplug and let fridge get defrost all icing. After 3 to 4 hrs, start run again, and set temp @ 5degree freezer. It will start cooling fridge compartment also. But, this is a temerory solution. To solve permanently, find out why defrost not functioned properly?
Follow this steps.
Check defrost timer working which is back of the refrigerator down corner. By with small tip screw driver in some models located in the ceiling of the fresh foodsection or behind the cold control cover. In the defrost timer, slowly turn the screw like wheel in the middle of the defrost timer withstraight screwdriver until the fridge shuts off. Now it's in defrost. If thedefrost heater(s) starts, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. Ifthe heater(s) does not start, unplug wire cord to check ohm test for continuityof heater. If continuity is there, plug cord wire which gives power 120volts(check specification) to heater. If heater no starts, bypass defrost thermostatby join the 2 wires in the defrost thermostat. If the heater now comes on,replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater itself is bad, replace it. Thanks and hope helpful.

Stopped cooling. fan still runs. after several hours started cooling good again.next morning stopped cooling again

Your defroster timer switch may be at faught. The defrost timer turns on a heating coil to defrost your frige. This is only a guess since I don't have the model and year. Do this: feel the walls if they are hard and they have no give to them, then your fridge is frozen up solid and no air can circulate. Unplug you fridge for 24 to 36 hours. Put towels on the floor to catch the water. If the defrost timer is bad it will defrost naturally with room temp. Plug back in after 24 to 36 hrs and see if bottom is now getting cold. If it is the defrost timer, the solution is not cheap. It's up to you to repair or invest in new. Good luck Google burdfrenzy

Whirlpool Side by Side Fridge Not Cooling

Here's the sequence: First, the unit must be ice free. This happens after power down for about 2 days. If the compressor is clicking, power off for 15 minutes. While waiting....

Clean the condenser coils.

If a mechanical thermostat, does it click when you turn it from off?

Locate compressor in back of unit. Find largest pipe. Power on.

Pipe should frost over for about a minute and then either dry out or form ice on it. If frost stays, you need refrigerant.

If compressor is not running, it could be thermostat, defrost timer (find this little gem in the back of the refrigerator and turn the stub shaft about 1/3 way around...does this change anything?) If the timer is bad...replace it.

Compressors generally don't fail from long run cycles.

hope all this gets you somewhere.
