Reboot Please help me with this. I have been on the internet looking for a solution on how to reboot my computer but many of the solutions are not for what state my computer is in. My monitor will not turn on when I turn the computer on, it keeps flashing but wont turn on and the last time it did come on the words that appeared where Warning computer needs to be rebooted ( those are the words I can remember). There is only 1 Bio beep and the keyboard would not work. The keyboard lights flash when I turn the computer on but will not work when I push F1 or even any other button. Please help.....oh I dont have a reboot cd.........Thanks

    Hi fwadley

I did all you suggested and the screen came on, now what it is reading is Warning!! some changes in the chipset or clock setting caused boot failure.Defaults for thses setting have been loaded.

The keyboard will not respond to any commands, but the lights flash on then wont work. Anymore suggestions please

Make sure you unplug the computer, check to see if your memory is in right and in the right place. plug back in and restart. unpluging each time helps. the motherboard could be bad and or the power box, check the cpu chip to make sure it's in right, take out the modom and try it. sometimes a card might make it not come on, *********** board is not comeing on, look to see if there are any lighs that come on, and then go off, the momory could make it not work. I have had them go bad on me. and it makes the mother board shut off, and you dont get the moniter to work.

Gateway is responsible for any hardware issues with your computer. Neither the internet service provider nor the operating system manufacturer has anything to do with the hardware. Your Gateway has a power on button on its case. You may have to hold the button in for several seconds to shut it down but as you have not accessed the OS, that won't harm the hard drive. Once it's shut down, repress the power button to turn it back on and hopefully it will power up completely to the Windows or Linux OS you are using.

On a Desktop? Reboot, Open Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, Advanced Power settings. Set Hibernate and Sleep to Never. Shut down your computer when not in use, it will last longer and a reboot everyday will reset the machine.

SYSTEM HANGS DURING REBOOT

Hi jameelafghan.

Remove the RAM/Memory from *********** board, and re-insert it.

Sometimes miss-alignment or dust on contact points can lead to dead spots on Memory, and the computer will hang.

An easy fix. Try it!

Kind Regards

How do i reboot my computer

There are several ways to reboot your computer. If it's working properly and you need to reboot it manually, click "Start" and then, click "Turn off computer" and again click "Restart". The other simplest shortcut is press Alt+F4 on the keyboard simultaneously and click "Restart".

If you are having trouble doing this, the press the "Reset" button the the box. Still this isn't possible? then Unplug the power chord and reconnect it after few seconds and then Power on again.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

How to reboot my toshiba satellite a100/a105 without recovery disk

I don't think "reboot" is the phrase you are really asking about.

To reboot is simply shutting your computer down and then letting it re-start itself.

To re-install the Operating System, and its drivers for that laptop, is another story.

To do that, if you do not have a recovery disk, would involve having a legit copy of windows, and then another computer to download the network drivers for that computer (either on a flash, CD, or floppy) to install on laptop to connect to the internet to retrieve the rest of the drivers for that laptop that can be found at:

Please completley remove the norton security from my computer...trying to run something comcst says you need to do something to rmove it...please do asap ...thank you

Go into Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Wait for the list of all programs to load up.

Go down through the list and look for Norton Internet Security. Remove it. It will take a very long time, sometimes 1/2 hour or more depending on speed of computer. Reboot the computer after it has been removed, especially if/when it asks you to reboot after the process.

After rebooting, go back into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look for Symantec or Norton's Live Update, remove that as well. Also remove any other Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus or Internet Security programs as well. Then reboot the computer again.

Your computer should be much, much faster now. So now you need a new Anti-Virus program...

I've found in my experience that Norton and McAfee do more damage to some computers than good, besides the fact that they are severely over-priced. I would NEVER install either Norton (Symantec) or McAfee on anyone's computer. Matter of fact, I just had to remove Norton 2008 from a lady's computer today, an old Dell 2400 because her system was too old and slow to run new Norton.

My suggestions for much better anti-virus would be...

- Kaspersky Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- Trend Micro PC-Cillin Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- AVG Free Anti-Virus at http://free.grisoft.com, they also have more elaborate versions with more protection for a cost.

I personally use AVG on my computers, and my family does as well. It's very effective and gets out viruses that even Norton cannot remove.
