Question about HP LaserJet 4 plus Printer

Black marks on left side of paper

I have a 4m plus printer which lately has been making 3 small black/gray marks equally spaced down the left edge of the paper. Any suggestions

Saw another comment on here about such marks, as my HP LJ MFP M476mw has been doing the same with the cyan. I had just put in a new cyan cartridge. Took it out, put the old one back in, no more problems. Need to order cyan now! but will be returning the toner cartridge that caused the problem.

Loading paper into an epson stylus tx110

hi there... this is what you need.

Loading Paper Follow these steps to load paper: step_1.gif Slide the edge guide to the left. ha5280001h.gif step_2.gif Fan a stack of paper, then tap it on a flat surface to even the edges. step_3.gif Load the paper with the printable side up, against the right side of the sheet feeder. Then slide the left edge guide against the left edge of the paper, but not too tightly. ha5280002h.gif ha5280003h.gif mark_no.gifNote: Leave enough space in front of the printer for the paper to be fully ejected. Always load paper into the sheet feeder short edge first, even when you are printing landscape-oriented pictures. Make sure the paper stack fits under the fon4_99.gif arrow mark inside the left edge guide.pls vote for me

How topaper load cannon mp 160 pixma

Hi there,

Loading Paper into your Canon MP 160 Pixma.

A) Loading Paper :
Follow this procedure:
1) Open the Paper Support, then pull out the Paper Support Extension.

2) Place a stack of paper (print side up) in the Auto Sheet Feeder, pinch the Paper Guide and adjust it to the left side of the stack.
* Set the Paper ThicknessLever to the correct position for the paper.
Note : Set the Lever to the left for most paper. When the Lever is set to the right, the confirmation message appears before the machine starts printing.
Important : Make sure the stack does not exceed the Load Limit Mark.

B) Loading Envelopes
Follow the following steps:
1) Open the Paper Support, then pull out the Paper Support Extension.

2) Prepare the envelopes for loading.
Important : * Press down firmly on the edges of the envelopes to make the folds crisp. Also, press firmly on the area that corresponds to the edges of the back flap.
* Remove any curling by holding the edges diagonally and bending them gently.
* If the edges of the envelopes are inflated or curled, place the envelope on a flat surface. With a pen, press down while moving it from the center toward the edges of the envelope.
* Ensure that no curl or puff exceeds 1/8 in. (3mm).

3) Place the stack of envelopes (print side up) in the Auto Sheet Feeder, pinch the Paper Guide and adjust it to the left side of the stack.
* Load the envelopes in the Auto Sheet Feeder with the short side down.
* Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right.

Important : Make sure that the stack does not exceed the Load Limit Mark.

Hope this helps. PLease rate my response.
Thanks
Have a good day.

Rollers don't appear to grab the papers it won't print

the rollers aren't grabbing the paper because the teeth on them are wearing out, on the lexmark printers you usually can't get replacement parts cause they aren't available, you would have to get a new printer.

Since the model of your printer is not listed here I would verify with Lexmark about the availablity of parts for your printer just to be sure.

Here is the Lexmark tech support number:

Doesn't recognize paper when loaded

When loading the paper, the edge sensors can be a bit tricky.

Pull the paper through the main guide with the locking plate released. Guide the paper edge it's right along the blue (not over it, just along the left edge of the guide markings on the body of the unit). Pull the paper through and then guide it back so that the lead edge just barely shows up, below the small, black rollers in the main print area. Now lock it down and reboot the system.

Once the print head alignment has finished the unit will pull the paper through and then move it forward and back until it is properly aligned, then cut off any excess it detects.

You should now be able to print. Note: Please do not re-adjust the paper edge after this process is complete.

4 - black ink smudges (1/32" wide x 1/16" high) in right margin

Very nice trouble shooting. The image defect you describe point to the OPC or drum unit this is essentially the toner cart. In your case black. Measureing the distance between repetitive defects is a sure way of diagnosing problems such as yours. Again nice work.

Google repetitive defect ruler for your model to help in the future.

Hope this helps

Black smudge marks along left side edge of paper.

Its probably a defective toner. If the film on the toner drum is scratched it can cause toner to stick to the drum everytime it spins causing the constant marks.

Error 13-jam paper HP Laser 4+

HP LaserJet 4, 4m, 4 Plus and 4m Plus Series Printers - False Error Message 13 PAPER JAM ISSUE: After clearing all jammed paper from the HP LaserJet 4, 4m, 4 Plus, or 4m Plus series printer, the display still reads 13 Paper Jam . Even after cycling the power off and then back on, the error remains. SOLUTION: Open the rear door of the printer. There is a paper sensor near the upper right hand corner of the fusing assembly (just below the right edge of the long yellow warning sticker on the fuser) that can cause paper jam error messages even when there is no jammed paper in the printer. Toggle the thin black plastic lever up and down to make sure it is not stuck or sticky. The lever should be in the down position before closing the back of the printer. If the lever is stuck or missing, the printer will generate a false paper jam message. Hope it will help you !
