Question about Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Dyson Dc-17 Animal Doesn't ****

I recently was cleaning with the hose of the Dyson when the sound of the machine got much louder and the hose lost suction. While investigating, I have noticed that on the back along the bottom to the right of the hose inlet, there is some sort of air escape or suction? The loud noise is coming from it. If I cover up this part, I regain some suction, but not as good as before and the dyson sounds like it is working especially hard. Anyone have any suggestions? I have taken off and inspected the bottom trap where the flow goes into the right tube into disposale tank, nothing was there. It just sounds as if it is blocked somewhere. Any suggestions would very much be appreciated.

I had the same problem and today I finally called Dyson. They were very helpful. I disconnected the hose from the handle using the red release button. If you hold the handle up to the light and can't see light on the other side, there is a blockage. A wire coat hanger worked great to dislodge our blockage and it's working perfectly again!

Remove the canister and then remove the filter under the canister. wash it, let it dry for 12 hours, and your dyson will be good as new.

My dyson dc 17 quit and a red light is blinking

Hi Colleen,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your Dyson vacuum. As DC17 doesn't have any indicator lights, it sounds as if you may actually have a DC28. If the red light is blinking, the machine may need resetting - to do this, please follow the steps shown in the video below.

If you need any further assistance, please call us free on 1-866-693-9766, or email askdysonUS@dyson.com

A Dyson dc 17 Animal and the wand/hose has lost suction

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. To check this, remove the wand/hose assembly from the machine, switch it on and test the suction from the top of the wand with your hand. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If its good here, then you know that the wand handle is blocked.

For the full diagnostics, check out the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com or call our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

OUR DYSON DC 17 ANIMAL HAS A SMELL OF ABOUT 50 DOGS THAT HAVEN'T HAD BATHS FOR A YEAR.. WE HAVE TWO DOGS IN THE HOUSE AND THEY ARE KEPT CLEAN. WE'VE WASHED THE CANISTER, THE FILTER,BRUSHED OUT THE HOSES.....

Try buying "Citronella" from an essential oils dealer (maybe eBay?) Apply 6-12 drops on the paper filter element...you'll LOVE the smell.

Dyson DC 14 animal bagless--unable to use wand

Hi.

Try these tests & tell me the results.

Remove the hose & wand completely from the machine it unclips at the bottom of the back.

Leave handle in full upright position & switch on do you still get the sound of something blocked ?

If yes remove the (U) shaped inspection port again at bottom back of machine now repeat last test what happens ?

Please reply with your answers.
