CP-S335 popping noise when powering on

Hi,
Just bought a new bulb. Checked it's installed right, watched a movie, everything fine. Turned the projector off. Wanted to watch another movie 10 minutes later turned back on, projector made "electrical?" raped popping noise. Unpluged everything, waited 10 minutes tried again, same noise. Third time turned it on and noise was gone. So What do you think?

Thanks for your time,
Eva

The cooling down process occured to me as well. But the noise was spontanous, it should make the noise everytime the system is not cooled properly.

Hi Eva

A Projector does'nt like being switched on and off all the time , if you are going to watch a couple of movies - rather leave the machine running all the time - this will also help you to get more hours out of your lamp - and that's a promise.

As far as the noise is concerned - it is most probably just the machine that was not cooled down properly at that stage.

Clearly, it thinks you're overdriving it.

Blinking Power Indicator every 2 seconds means the internal temperature is high. (Page 76 of the manual)

Every half-second - speaker impedance too low.

Consider the load presented by the speakers and what their minimum impedance might be.

Check for loose speaker wires.

I follow all the steps to reset the filter time and lamp time with a new bulb but it will not reset any ideas

This Projector is controlled by an internal microprocessor. Under certain exceptional circumstances, the projector may not operate correctly and the microprocessor will need to be reset. In such a case, please push the Restart switch by using a cocktail stick or similar and before turning on again, make the projector cool down at least 10 minutes without operating. Only push the Restart switch in these exceptional instances.

Read replace lamp then afew weeks later heard pop noise and now black screen

Two things in your TV can make that popping sound. One is the bulb of course and the other is a capacitor. Have you pulled out the bulb to inspect it? My guess is that you have broken glass in the cooling fan, which is why there is a grinding sound. Most bulbs tend to contain the glass from getting everywhere as it's only the filament inside that pops creating little diamond looking pieces inside the lens. If a surge was strong enough or if the bulb was poorly manufactured, the whole unit can explode inside spraying glass everywhere.

If the bulb looks fine, the pop must've been a capacitor on one of your circuit boards resulting in no display. Since the TV still powers on, your power supply and it's fuse appear to be fine. Check the bulb first and go from there.

Resetting the air filter timer

If you do not have a remote here is how to reset the filter time. Use the "Menu" bottun to get the "easy menu" to display. Push the down arrow until you get to "Filter Time," then push and hold the RIGHT arrow to reset the filter time. DO NOT try to reset using the "Reset" option on the easy menu, it will not work.
