GO Video DVD Recorder VR 3845 when I transfered a vhs video to dvd it started only playing in the Go video recorder, so I took it to 4 other dvd players including the player on my pc and the dvd would not play in any of them. Then I took it back to the Go Video to play it and now it will not play there either. The player can't seem to read the disk now that I've tried playing it on other players. This message is what comes up, "unknown disk, plese check your disk". I searched the manual and thought I had found a solution because I did not finalize the disk. When I re-recorded to another disk, the Go Video recorder would not finalized the dvd so that it would play in other players, according to the instrctions. So what do I do NOW?

SOURCE: copy a vhs to a dvd on govideo dvr4200

This model is a DVD player only. It does not record to DVD's. You would need to get a model that has a DVD recorder.

Recorded DVDs will not play on other DVD players

Some DVD players have a protection which keeps you from playing copy writed DVD's even if it's on the DVD-R's. Most of the latest DVD players within the past 3-4yrs have this intergraded into it. In that case, your recorder is really working you just need a DVD player that supports your recorded dvd's vs. non-recorded ones.

Have you also tried to play those DVD's on a media center/system on your pc or computer? That might also help you decipher if it's really the burner or the DVD players as well...

Let us know how it goes. Hope this helps..unfortunately when the DVD player has that prevention already intergraded internally there is no way to remove it..its just how it comes.

Samsung DVD-V$357 recorded dvds won't play on other machines

Did you finalize the disk? If not, this should solve your problem. When the disk is finalized you should be able to play it on your computer if you can play other DVDs on it. Some other DVD players can only play specific disks (i.e. DVD-R, DVD+R). This may be another problem.

Finalizing Discs

The only reason that you have to finalize a DVD-R disc is so that you can play it back in an external DVD. Once finalized, you can no longer add motion video to that particular disc. Discs that are not finalized can still be played back when inserted in the DVD-camcorder.
