Question about HP Pavilion dv6000z Notebook

1 Answer

Firewire Ports My Hp Pavilion dv6000z laptop has firewire, but it's only the other end of the cable, the upside down one. I would love to connect my laptop to the camera I have, but they both have the same port. Is there a sort of cable that has both connections at the end? Thanks

I'm gonna assume that you need a double ended 4-pin firewire cord.
If so, here is a link for one.

Connect to firewire through usb 3.0

USB (1.1, 2.0, and 3.0) are based on completely different specs than Firewire (400 and 800). Even the way they interact with the processor and memory is completely different. They are not wire-compatible, or even signal-compatible. In order to convert a a Firewire connection into a USB connection, you would need a computer with both ports, have it convert the Firewire signal into binary, then convert the binary into a USB signal and send it out. This hasn't even touched on the problem of having the device show up properly to the end computer. It's a complex problem that hasn't be tackled because there is so little demand for it, especially considering the price that would be asked for such a device.
If you use Expresscard solely for Firewire, I say ditch Expresscard and find something with built in Firewire. It's growing more uncommon for it to be included on consumer laptops, but it's still widely available on business models, which also tend to be significantly higher in quality.

I can really just ask a question? I want to know if I can add any form of 4-pin firewire connector to my hp pavillion dm4-1160us Entertainment Notebook. It doesn't look like I have an input or any...

You could try buying a USB to firewire converter cable, which would allow you to connect a Firewire device to one of your USB ports.

Search USB Firewire cable on the Internet. eBay probably have a bunch of them offered for sale.

I am searching for the right cable-connection from my Mini DV digital camcorder JVC GR- D740-E to my pc (laptop) Acer Aspire 5735 Z. One end of the cable must be a firewire 4 points ?? for my camcorder...

More than likely a Mini USB to USB cable, like most mobile phones use. Take your camcorder in to the electronics shop and they will find you a cable or look it up in your user manual. It will be down as an accessory.
Hope that helps.

I want to connect my HP pavilion notebook dv1000 by firewire

You should be able to get a firewire card to fit you computer. A standard pc card should fit a HP. There are two separate kinds of PC cards. There are the standard and the express versions. Make sure you get the standard version, because express is mostly for Dell. You may want to go to HP and confirm this by looking at the support section for your computer. As far as what type of firewire card, get what you think you will need. There isn't much difference between different brands.

Firewire cards

Why do you need to use another firewire card? The firewire port located on the right of the machine between the card reader and USB ports should work fine with most devices. I use mine frequently with a Sony Firewire camcorder and have never had a problem.

Attach external hard drive

firewire adapters only fit into firewire sockets..if you don't have that upgrade, you most likely only have USB ports..
