Selecting glossy for 11x17 in Bypass

Ok..I'll try to make this as simple as I think it sounds.

I work for a real estate company. We print packages (brochures) for each building that we list. When I print the packages, I use 11x17 paper and make it into a booklet. I use plain paper for the inside and a glossy, heavier paper for the cover. The cover is 80lb Coated Two Sides 210 g/m2. So I've been selecting Heavy 1 for this paper. The problem we run into is that one color in our logo is maroon. With the Heavy 1 setting, it almost makes it more red. It also does this to any photos that might be there too. Just recently we started printing postcards for mailings. I use 8.5 x 11 paper, but the same weight and everything. It lets me choose Glossy as the paper type. But it won't let me for the 11x17. Is it because of the size or is there some sort of setting I can use or change?

I need to figure this out because sometimes if we have a potential new client, we give them a folder of stuff to show them how we would market their property. So we give them a company profile, a sample package, a flyer and our quarterly newsletter. But the flyer and newsletter are on 100 lb Coated Two Sides 140g/m2 Paper (not Cover). So I can choose Glossy for those and we get a deeper maroon for those and a more red for the packages (both company and property). So now we give them a package with a bunch of different colors that are all supposed to be the same!

Sorry I was so long-winded about this, I just need to figure it out and it's driving me mad!

THANKS!

Hello Kmully,
Wow! Nice Q. Many variables. I hope this helps. First, heavy 2 is for the heaviest paper and slows the machine down and will give better color reproduction and consistantcy.Second, you need to use the bypass tray to properly use all the settings available. So use heavy 2 instead of 1,and use the bypass (Canon calls it a multifeed tray in some books) tray for optimal performance with the heavy, glossy stock you are using. I hope this helps. Sincerely.........................SPINAL

Sharp mx3110n printer won't use bypass tray? Trying to print on glossy paper using that tray and it won't, it automatically switches to tray 1. Or can I just put glossy paper in tray 1?

Hello Laura,
Here is the pdf that explains how to set up th bypass tray; http://support.appstate.edu/sites/support.appstate.edu/files/MX3110%20USE%20SPECIAL%20PAPER%20IN%20THE%20BYPASS.pdf

The text of it is as follows;

TO USE SPECIAL PAPER IN THE BYPASS
? Press either the picture of the copier or press
paper select
? Load paper in the bypass
? Make sure the correct size shows up under
bypass tray
? If paper is not just plain paper press type and
size
? Choose paper type
? If you are printing to the bypass from your
computer you must also tell the print driver
under the paper tab what type of paper is in
the bypass if its not just plain paper
? The copier and the PC must match paper
types
? Press the X button to Accept

Good Luck!

11x17 paper jams from drawer - will not feed from sheet bypass

Check to see if the actuator arm is stuck in the bypass tray, therefore not seeing the paper and be sure the side guides are up against the paper. If that doesn't work and you have 2 cassette cavaties put the 11 X 17 where the other tray is . Hope it works for you.

Can't print multiple PDF files in 11x17 format. I open windows explorer and select the specific PDF files. Click on File, Print. They all print out, but they all are 8 1/2 x 11 on a 11x17 paper, instead of...

Adobe Reader can be real pain it the... neck sometimes.
But first I would inspect not only the printer setup, but also printer's default print settings. Windows XP has 3 places, where you can see the printer options:
1. Printer properties
2. Print preferences
3. Default print setup.
The third one is the one you have to set. When you double click on your printer icon, a print queue window opens. Choose Printer->Properties, go to Advanced tab, and on the bottom there's a button "Default print setup" (I don't have English XP handy, so I'm translating back to English from my version - excuse me if they might appear a little different).
It's there you need to set up the default page size and so on.

If this still doesn't help, try opening Acrobat Reader, setting the Page Size Scaling to None, printing something and closing Acrobat Reader. From what I've seen, it tends to remember this setting from previous sessions.

You may also try alternative PDF readers, like Foxit Reader or PDF Xchange Reader.

Good luck :)

Can't Print

Firstly, I have to ask......the paper is installed, and tray set correctly? Does it read the proper size on the display of the copier?
Ok....next, do you have the optional paper trays installed (3 & 4)?
Is that where the 11 x 17 paper is? Then you probably did not add the accessories when you installed the driver and when printing that paper is unavailable.
right click your printer icon, click "properties", then i think it's under the "accessories" , or "options" button....select the optional trays, and anything else you may have. click 'ok' ...should work.

Ink will not fuse to the page

I have a technical bulletin on a fusing problem in this machine that may help. It requires entry into service mode and making a few adjustments. I don't like to post service mode adjustments here. If you email me, I will send you the instructions to try it.

Gray background where printo on glossy paper 130g/m2

hello

this sounds like a bad black ink cart, or the fuser rolls built into the printer are dirty.

you can swap out a black cart to test that theory, you can also just print a single blank page (no text or graphics) onto a piece of glossy paper and see if there is anything there after its gone thru the printer.

if the piece of paper has stuff on it it had to come from the rollers inside the printer.

service required, unless your comfortable changing out parts in your printer.

I have a HP Deskjet 9800. It' doesn't want to print 11x17 size paper. It will feed an 11x17 sheet but nothing printed on it, after that the paper feed light blinks, and eventually the printing task bar...

I can't tell you for sure which thing I tried and worked, but I noticed the USB cable looked slightly damaged, so I switched it out. But the thing that I actually think did it was that I was using the A3 size paper because there was no 11x17 paper size with the exception of a banner 11x17, which I didn't try becuase I wasn't creating a banner.
But none the less, that did it.
