    Here is the service manual.
    Check from page 9 onward.
It explains in detail with pictures how to remove the filter.
If your dysons has lost suction probably the filter is not well in place. Check also that the hoover hoose and the tool you are using is not obstructed.

How to repair a Dyson dc15 blows instead of sucks

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If dirt seems to be coming back out of your DC15 rather than being deposited in the clear bin, it's likely your machine is blocked. The filter may also need a wash. To check for blockages, please run through each of the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc15/dc15-the-ball-all-floors/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/wand-suction

1c345c46-dd55-4d82-aaec-b445a61b7908.jpg

It's also a good idea to give both parts of the pre-filter a wash - we recommend doing this at least once every 3-6 months in normal use. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for both parts to dry completely before replacing them:

Following each of these steps should resolve the issue. If you would like any further advice from our experts after giving this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

No suction from main brush bar

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC15. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as normal, this may be due to a blockage. The filter may also need a wash. The easiest way to check for any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=813&product=DC15-SY-STD

In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video embedded below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please get in touch with us directly by calling free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Hi, my Bissell 3920 has lost almost all of its suction. I checked the hoses and tubes but did not find any blockages. Filters are clean. Thanks.

Hi, Have you checked and made sure the floor plate is secure and tight without any gaps around the edges? If that's ok then check the suction hose where it bends down to the floor unit,, lots of times dirt, hair and stuff collects there when the filter was plugged up. remove the floor plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a wire coat hanger to run up the suction hose and back out and clean out any debris, also check the entire hose for blockage ( top to bottom ). if this is all clear and you still have little suction - then the problem could be the vacume motor itself

My dyson 15 wont turn on

Hi there,

Your DC15 is fitted with a safety device which shuts the cleaner down if it starts to overheat. This will usually be due to a blockage - the filter may also need a wash. The easiest way to check the cleaner for any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=813&product=DC15-ANIMAL

In normal use, the filter needs washing at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it. For further guidance on doing this, please see the video below.

Once the cleaner has been allowed to cool down for at least an hour, you should be able to restart it - and by washing the filter and clearing any blockages, you can prevent the issue from reoccurring.

If you need any further assistance, get in touch with us directly by calling free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

No suction through top of hose - HELP

disconnect the hose where it goes into the clear tube on top of the base.there will be a little flapper door there when yo take it off.open the door and take a coat hanger with the end bent over like a hook and pull the dirt clog out of there.but first take the dirt cup off and remove the filter,if its clogged with dirt you won't have any suction.try using the vacuum without the filter in the dirt cup.if you have suction then then thats your problem ,a cloggeds filter

No suction - Dyson vacuum

Hi If the Dyson is throwing out dirt at the back, it could be three possibilities:
1) The main floor head suction channel is blocked. Check the sole plate where the beater bar is, or if you have a cylinder/pull along model check the floor heads and main extension pipes.
2) Check all the inspection tubes especially the bottom part where the main handle hose is. Also check the filters are clean as well as the Cyclone shroud honeycombs are completely unclogged. Use of the upholstery brush is ideal for dust removal on the cyclones.
3) Check the main inspection areas on the Dyson as sometimes a back log of clogged dirt can get stuck. Also check the dust channel points when then bin is taken out.
Hope all this helps!

Suction when I vaccum the floor but not in the hose

remove the filter from the dirt cup and try again,if you have suction the the filter is clogged.the other is the intake hose that goes into the top of the base where the clear tube is.disconnect the hose from the base tube and take a coat hanger and bend the end into a hook.open the litte flapper door and stick the hanger down in the tube and see if you can pull out a clog of dirt.last but not least, disconnect the top hose completelyfrom the vacuum and see if you can blow through it.if you can't then the flex top hose is clogged.open the little flapper door on the top of the base and turn on the vacuum,if the intake hose isn't clogged then you should have suction.that will tell you that the broblem is in the flex hose or the filter

Dirt Devil M086700 Wide Glide upright suction problem

Hi,

These new fangled Hepa filters get clogged up pretty easy and when there's no place for an outlet of air there is no suction going into the clear basket.

You're right. Best way to clean these things is to bang them upside down outside on some concrete or another hard surface until there is no more dust coming out. You can replace them and eventually it comes to that.

The hose that leads up from the suction bed housing has a tight turn in the bottom area and this can collect something large that then collects smaller and smaller. The hose can be disconnected from the bottom unit and it may take a straightened coat hanger to clear out whatever may or may not be in there.

To be sure you have a tight seal just see that the plastic can is seated firmly at the bottom and the top locks in place. The gasket does its job once there is good airflow and the vacuum will do the rest.

Any questions or need for clarification just comment back to me below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Regards,
Worldvet

Hoover Windtunnel

Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.
