I plugged in the device and it worked for 3 seconds, then power shut off and a strange noise came rom the back consistently? what do I do now

hi good day, it sounds that their is bad parts which need to check at the power supply section of the unit. you can check the primary capacitor or a shorted regulator transistor. but make sure you have knowledge in basic electronic repair so you can perform this checking.

How to test H-out transistor if it is good or defect?

All pins shorted together means the transistor is defective.

Generally, there are about 3 tests I usually do with ohmmeter to test a bipolar transistor:

1. Measure resistance from collector to emitter. If it is zero, transistor is shorted (bad).
2. Measure resistance from base to emitter. Should show conduction in one direction, but not the other.
3. Measure resistance from collector to emitter. Should show conduction in one direction, but not the other.

My RCA T19060GY TV/VCR will not stay on. When I push the power button on the unit itself (I don't have the remote.), the green indicator light comes on for two seconds and I hear to click sounds

the clicking sound is due to the relay is getting turn on but doesn't stay because of bad component in the power supply board or in the main board. you must check first the bridge type diode and FET transistor using an analog or digital tester.

I can`t get any audio. Its not on mute. I can turn the audio up and down on the screen

Hello,

First check that any muting control is not activated. This might be a button on the remote or set itself. If you have a headphone jack, it may have dirty contacts as plugging in a headphone usually mutes the speaker.

If the set is mono or only one channel of a stereo set is out, then check for bad connections to the loudspeaker. Test the loudspeaker by disconnecting one of the wires (with the power off!) and measuring its resistance with an ohmmeter (it should be less than 100 ohms - probably less than 8 ohms). Or momentarily touch a 1.5 volt battery to the speaker terminals - you should get a click or pop from the speaker.

Next, trace back from the speaker output terminals to the circuit board and look for bad solder connections or a loose or dirty connector.

If these tests do not reveal anything, you probably need a scope (or audio signal tracer) and schematic. Or at least the part number off of the chip. Is the final amp a chip also or just a transistor? Have you tested the transistor? If there is little or no buzz from the speaker, that would indicate a problem fairly near the output. If the tuner/if were bad, I would expect some noise/hum pickup from the low level audio stages. Get the part number off of the chip. If it is in a socket, check the contacts for corrosion or looseness.
Hope it works...

Vertical output transistor

ic401 was shorted it takes la78041. But it also had two shorted diodes #30b,which crosses to a nte5035.
my set had retrace at top after it was fixed ,which in my case needed 2 caps c421 4.7/50v and c427 100/35v . change both at same time. also in my search of the board c402 4.6 /160v had been puffed up either from the i.c. shorting or another potential problem so change while you are in there as well as resoldering the whole vertical/ horizontal circuit board. any questions call me randy at 563-579-9473 thanks

Tv wont turn on

The sound can be called screaming from the power supply,it senses a short and creates a frequency you can hear, the set has a problem and it needs to be repaired,I will check the horizontal out put transistor for a short, sometimes it goes bad without a reason and sometimes the high voltage transformer is also bad and both have to be replaced but first the transistor only if it goes bad again then you replaced the transformer too.Seek assistance from a servicer if you are not too familiar with tv service,it can be dangerous.

No power

would begin by checking obvious components like the power supply transistors, diodes, caps, etc. Also, if you can locate it (it should be a large transistor mounted on a heatsink by the flyback x-former), check the horizontal output transistor for a dead short. You could also have a lot of cold solders on the cotrnol board and in the HV and power supply.

Won't turn on.

If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages. Could be anything from a bad startup resistor to a shorted horizontal output transistor to a bad controller. It is probably something simple but you will need to do some troubleshooting. Start with the low voltage power supply. Take care, and good luck
