Reset it by pushing the "menu" button and "a/b" button at the same time for a few seconds then try turning it on...I tried this with mine when it was unresponsive and it worked.

I have a Samsung YP-U6 MP3 player which worked very well for the past 4 years. Suddenly the connection between the PC and the MP3 player didn't work any more. When I plug in the MP3 player in the USB port,...

Sandro, from what you describe, thanks for the complete story, I'm afraid the USB connector in the MP3 player is defect. Or the connection inside the player. If you tried another MP3 cable and that did not work, it must be in the player.
Be aware an USB cable has different wires for charging and for the digital connection. So a cable could be used foe charging, and still be defect for digital throughput.
Perhaps you could try to clean out the USB connector on the player, but be careful not to bend or break any pin in the connector. Is a tooth pick and if you have an air blower, blow in the connector, if you see anything like a bit of dust or a scrap of paper.
Then the opening of the player.
As a repair engineer, I would not open it, unless I had a repair manual. I never had a player like this on my bench, but I'm convinced it can be opened. But because these little devices are often glued, it could be possible you can open it, but you won't be able to put it together.

Sometimes I use the site ifixit.com but they did not (yet) open a MP3 player, so that can't help you. I tried to find a repair manual, but that failed too.
I hope you can fix it by cleaning the connector, because if not I think you have to start saving money for a new player.

Sorry

MP3 players are usually charged using the supplied USB cable. Connect the USB cable to the MP3 player and then plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of a working computer.

The MP3 player is charged by connecting the supplied USB cable to the MP3 player and then plugging the other end of the USB cable into the USB port of a working computer.
You can also purchase a 5 volt mains USB adapter. Connect the MP3 player and USB cable to this 5 volt mains USB adapter to charge the MP3 player.

I can not find my power cord for my m4002a mp3 player where can i get a replacement cord

To charge it from your computer?
Any usb cable that you can plug into your player should at least charge it

Take it to a computer/electronics shop and ask for a usb cable to fit it.
There are two types, charging and charging/data, with the data cable having all wires connected through so you can put music on your player from the computer.

I checked on eBay and put in "rca m4002 cable".
I found one for under $7 including postage, charging only.

Connect the USB cable to the MP3 player then power up a computer and plug this MP3 and cable into the computer's USB port.
You can also charge it by purchasing a 5V USB power adapter and plugging the MP3 player and cable into this adapter.

Using the standard sony lead to attach to computer and its not charging or even being recognised as anything being plugged in. help?

Hello

Well, if the computer does not recognize that anything has been plugged in, there might be a fault with the cable itself, or the connection unit of the device you want to access. I would try plugging it into one of the other USB ports at the back of the pc and see if the computer responds differently to the insertion of a cable. Hope this can help.

Best regards

Have you check the USB wire you use, sometime's the wires are made to be faulty, try to use or change your USB data cable wire.
