Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)
Purchased Belkin wireless G router and on the box and on quick installation guide flyer inside it is saying step one to unplug modem and plug cables in where instructed to do so and plug modem in then router and then step 2 insert CD and Setup Assistance will automatically appear and to follow instructions. But then on the package the router came in its says Wait! do not connect your router until instructed to do so. And Stop, run the installation CD-rom first. Which is the right way? My sister-in-law has the same router and the same satellite internet service through Wild Blue and she hooked up all of her cables and such first and then noticed it said to run CD so then she turned her computer on and inserted CD and skipped along the instructions and was successful in installing router and connecting to internet. She then went out and purchased a Toshiba laptop with Vista and started it up and did nothing else and she was able to connect right to the internet. Is this possible?
Yes, there are many ways to set up the modem - the instruction are for the "most" successful installation - To make it the easiest on you, do what the cd that came with it says.

Tips for a great answer:
Nov 07, 2010 | Belkin Basic Wireless Router
Step 1 Position your Belkin wireless G router.
Place your wireless G router in a wide open and central location. Don't connect the power plug into the router, yet. Make sure your computer is turned off.
Step 2 Connect all the devices.
Find the Ethernet cable that connects your PC to the modem. Unplug the Ethernet cable from your PC and insert it into the wireless G router's WAN port. You should have an additional Ethernet cable that came with your router. Take this cable and plug one end into one of the LAN ports on the router. Then connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.
Step 3 Turn on your modem, router, and PC.
Plug the power plug adapter into the modem. Turn on the modem. It'll take approximately 30 seconds for the modem to boot up. Connect the power plug adapter to the router and the other end into a power strip or outlet. Like the modem, it'll take about 30 seconds for the router to boot. Turn on your PC.
Step 4 Verify lights are on for your devices.
Make sure the following lights are on for your router: power, WAN, and LAN light. If you don't see any of them lit, confirm these devices are turned on. Make sure the Ethernet cable connections are installed correctly.
Step 5 Install and configure software.
Use the setup wizard application to configure your Belkin wireless G router. Set up features, such as creating your password and setting up your time zone. Continue to follow the setup wizard so you can configure ?other settings
