power supply is dead on my Gateway FPD1975W 19 inch LCD, and how in the world do i get the case open

Clarification Request

is it external or internal power supply. does the power cord go straight to the monitor, or does it go through a small box first? If it is an external box, post the voltage and amps outputted by the box. (ie. 12V DC 1A would be a 12 volt dc supply, capable of a constant one amp draw)

try replacing the crystal on the power supply 8 out of 10 times it is the problem

1975I purchased a used Gateway FRD1975W, when I start it the blue led on the power button lights up and I get a full white screen which flashes to black a couple of time and then stays white as long as the piower is on.Anybody could help me please.MICHEL

The wire goes straight to the monitor there no external transformer
