Is the door open or unlatched?
Make sure the door is completely closed and latched. On models with a dual-digit display, the control displays "- -" during a cycle if it believes the door is not latched. Check for obstructions (spoons, etc), interfering with the door operation. A lower dish rack that is installed backward will also cause incomplete door closure.
Is there power to the dishwasher? Electricaly ground dishwasher. Connect ground wire to green ground connector in terminal box. Do not use an extension cord. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire or electric shock.

Check your household electrical box to see if a fuse has blown or if the circuit breaker has tripped. If the unit has a plug-in power cord, make sure it is plugged in.
Does your dishwasher have a rotary timer knob? (Some Models)
The cycle selection must match the position of the timer knob. Turn the timer knob to the beginning of the preferred cycle. The timer knob should click when you reach the start of the cycle.
Is the control lock option activated?
Press and hold the Heated Dry option (button with lock icon) for five seconds and the light should turn off. Instructions are also placed on the label on top of the inner door to unlock the controls.
Is the delay start option activated?
To cancel the delay and cycle, press Cancel/Drain.
Has the motor stopped for less than 10 minutes?
The motor may have stopped due to an overload. If this is the case, the motor will automatically reset itself within 5-10 minutes.
Is the Start/Resume indicator flashing?
Opening the door or interrupting the power can stop the cycle. Close the door and press Start/Resume. If the Start/Resume indicator flashes three times when you press Start/Resume, the dishwasher is waiting for you to open the door after the last cycle. Open and close the door, and then press Start/Resume.
On models where the controls are on top of the door be sure to close the door within 3 seconds of pressing the Start/Resume to start or resume the dishwasher cycle.
Is the water shutoff valve (if installed) turned on?
Make sure that the water shutoff valve is turned on.
If these tips did not work or your controls are not working correctly you may need to schedule service.

My dishwasher just quit. No gradual breakdown. I t washed a load completely, did a great job, and wneh the next load of dishes were ready to be washed nothing. . .no lights, sounds or anything. I have...

what is the model number.
most likely the thermal cutoff relay has tripped. is it likely you had inlet water temperature much higher than recommended. Normally dishwasher use cold water (depending on model) and use own internal heater. Others expect warm water at the inlet.

Unit just quit. won't start up. press start button and won't even light up

please provide the model number of the Samsung dishwasher.
if none of the lights light up, then a fuse might be blown somewhere. If the problem is the start buttion does not start the dishwasher , then the door latch switch could be faulty.

Reset the dishwasher by switching the breaker off for a couple of minutes. this will reset the dishwashers electroincs. If nothing else is wrong this should do it.

Electroluxe dishwasher starts and once water runs it quits working and all the lights on the display start blinking and it won't work. Any ideas?

Dishwasher likely has leaked into drip pan underneath. Unfortunately, you need to remove dishwasher and flip onto back and remove 3 phillips screws that hold drip pan in place. Install "leak kit" to correct leak problem with this model of dishwasher. Part number is 154769101

Hotpoint Dishwasher Problem

Certainly sounds like the motor is seized. If it is quite old it may not be worth fixing, you should call your local appliance parts dealer with the dishwasher model and serial number and get a quote for a new motor.
