DV1000 manual for replacing keyboard

Hello,

I ran into your post about replacing a HP DV1000 keyboard and was curious if you could possibly email me a copy of the manual. My email address is tgillespie@gmail.com. My girlfriend spilled milk on her laptop and now some of the keys are unresponsive. Keyboard replacement help?

Sincerely,
Trent G

Dear Trent, I am sorry to hear about the keyboard/milk disaster.. :)

Please find all the info that you need about removing the keys or the complete keyboard at the following guides and HP service manual. I Hope you fix this!! :)

The following guide is for the keys.

http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/03/20/key-fell-off-keyboard/

There are no guides available for the DV1000 but this guide will be more than enough to help you through this one.

The complete process for the keyboard replacement is here (Section 5.9)

HP Pavilion Laptop -- massive power problems?

hello chad
Seem to be circuit issue.
You can check charger with volt meter to check its working ok.

Drain all resistors of power by removing battery and charger and holding down power button for 10 seconds.

There is a power button board that can be bad.

I like to break things down by just powering the laptop with memory and keyboard, power button board only. this will require removing motherboard power button board so it will only be the parts to POST.
Minimal Post .
It can be an array of things from the systems casing shorting it out to other hardware.

I want the replacement motherboard part number

The part number you posted on the FixYa site is correct for a replacement board. It is actually designed for the DV1300 series but will work iin many DV1000 series notebooks. If you get on E-Bay and put that part number in the search box, you will find many that are for sale and under 120 bucks. Good luck

The keyboard of my hp dv1000 does not work. some

It sounds like your keyboard may have bit the dust !
If you can get to a DOS Prompt or word pad to check, I will explain.
Start with going across all the top key's. If you find one that does not work, go directly below it and see if that key left to right works. If not your connection is corrupt and the keyboard should be replaced. Example: Type Y and U if the U does not work go below to the J and K, if they don't work, 1 or more of the integrated connections are bad and you will more that likely see at-least 8-10 more key's in that region that also don't work.
Keyboard for the DV1000 units can be purchased for $16.00 to $30.00 US. on (ebay)
Replacing the key board is not a bad job, but will require a little time.
Good luck.

P.S. DV1000 units are fairly old and you got your money's worth out of that one. !

HP PAvilion DV 1000 Keyboard Problem

Seems like it actually may be a problem with the keyboard. Could be that those particular buttons are faulty. I would try a new keyboard. They seem to be cheap enough these days!!Hope this helps!

You have to look for a bad connection on MB. You have a broken trace from openning and closing. You need micro-soldering iron to fix it.
