Re: how to up grade ram memory
There should be a small trap door in the bottom with 1 or 2 screws that has the memory. as you will have to have the correct style memory then take it to the computer store where you purchase the memory and they should install it for free.

Yes, that's correct, you must replace the RAM memory module; is very easy just get a small screwdriver and open the small compartment on the backof the laptop, there is no need to open the entire cap. Also you can test each module to find out which one is failing
Yes it is possible to upgrade the ram and the harddrive, there will be little blanking plates on the back of the laptop, they are held in by small screws, undo the screws and you will have access to the memory and the harddrive. If you are unsure take it to a pc store and ask if they could find out what type of memory and harddrive is needed to upgrade. hope this helps.
Does charging the battery change the time to shutoff? You may have a battery that is near death. If you still think that you have RAM problems, try the old trick of cleaning the memory contacts with a pencil eraser. Wipe clean with rubbing alcohol after. You have to remove the memory stick(s).
The video card is part of the motherboard and cannot be up graded.
The video RAM uses part of the main RAM but you might be able to increase the allocated video RAM to the max configuration in the BIOS.
Refer to the video specs I copied for you. Video

u need to replace the memory.......open the memory dock at the bottom end of the notebook....have the battery and ac power removed......if there is 2 memory modules....remove 1 at a time reboot the system to check which 1 is giving you trouble....
if there is only 1 memory module ull need to change this
I found the user manual at
Page 63 of the acer user manual listed these steps for changing the memory:
"1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adaptor (if connected) and remove the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the memory cover.
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adaptor.
6 Turn on the computer.
The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory"
