Question about RCA RT2360 System

RCA RT2770 receiver won't turn on!

Our RCA RT2770 receiver to the home theater system will not turn on, by remote or by pushing the on/off button (black button, rimmed in a glowing red light). I tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in with no luck. If I keep trying long enough it will eventually come back on, but it will just be a guessing game if I can get it back on later after I turn it off. We just got this system in late Decemeber ... this is really disappointing. There were no prior problems to this happening, just reached over to turn it on, and no response.

I'm having the exact same problem as above. tried the holding the button down and unplugging but that did nothing to fix the problem.

i just got this 2 days ago and I am already having problems with it freezing up.  It won't allow me to change volume, turn off or do anything.  And then sometimes it just doesn't want to come on without unplugging it and plugging it back in...tonight...no luck.

holding down the power button while unplugging, waiting for the red light to go out and plugging back in, while still holding down the power button turns the unit on.
but when you turn it off, the turn on problem continues.

I have to same problem. Unit was working fine this morning. Got home after work and it won't turn on. No lights or anything. Bought it a year ago (12-03-2007). These things should last longer than that.

I just got it. It freezes at the Welcome screen. I can't change the inputs or even turn it off. I'm taking it back tomorrow.

I have been having the same problem others have. It freezes up just as others describe. It used ot work if I unplugged the unit and then plugged it back in. Now when I do this it will only work for about 20 min or so and freezes up again. It also makes noise when it is turned on sometimes. Sounds something like an annoying noisey fan. This is intermittant only occuring baout 50 -60 % of the time. Also one os the speakers has quit working! It appears that this model is a real lemon from RCA. I bought mine 10/08 from Wal-Mart and have been having worsening problems from the start. Hopefully RCA will be honorable and fix my lemon unit for free. If not I will never ever buy a RCA product again-not even an aa battery!

Actually my unit is a RT2870 which means that RCA released the next model with the same defects. I will never buy RCA again!

Bought mine over a year ago (RT2270), and lately it's been making a lot of noise when turned on. It goes away after about 15 to 20 minutes, but i'm afraid it's only the begining of it's trouble.

I think it's the fan, so I will attempt to use some fan lubricant to see if it does the job.

For the noise when it starts try this. Remove cover and you will see a small fan held in place by 2 screws. Remove these screws and then remove fan. On the back of the fan you will see a sticker. Remove this sticker and apply 1...just 1 drop of oil onto the now exposed shaft. Replace the sticker, the fan and the 2 screws.

Hold down the on/off button, un-plug it, and plug it back in. see if that fixes it.

If you just got this, it may still be under warranty. If so, bring it back for service and indicate that the problem can be intermittant. It sounds like the problem may be noise on the data line or a problem with the micro. Keep us posted.

I have one if you still need it. Hooked my sub up to a different receiver and cut that end off to hard wire it. It has about a foot of wire and the white plug on the end that goes into the receiver.

When i power on my receiver it will play fine for about 10 minutes and then the unit will power off on its own. I can turn it back immediately but it will do the same thing over and over again. What is...

There could be the result of an overload on the system. check to make sure the connections on the back of your receiver are all secure and the polarity is matched. black to black or black to ( - ) and red to red or red to ( + ) follow each wire to the speaker it is attached to ensuring no damage has occurred. if this is not the problem try disconnecting everything but your speakers and power and try starting the system up on its own. if this works then you have to attach your peripherals one by one to determine the source of the problem. if after running the system solo it shuts off again it would appear to be an internal issue and i would take it back to the store for service.

Help

I cannot find any way of doing this from looking at either manual for the remote or the theater. It is my understanding that RCA makes "smart remotes" that supposedly recognize and control other RCA components, but I have no idea how this works. My suggestion is to read the manuals and maybe find something I didn't or contact RCA Customer Service.

Rt2770 home theater receiver rca. Hp In?

Mine does the exact same thing. If I pick up the front end of the unit and slam it down on a hard surface, it then displays HP out and sound comes out!! Freaking retarded. I wish I knew what was wrong with it! I asked RCA and of course they never responded. What a joke!
