Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

In our church one of our dishwashers is a model WM5H. Sometimes it will work fine. Other times the light never comes on. I have had two service calls and it works fine while they are there.

The door switch, by door hinge, resets the timer for the next cycle. The door needs to stay open for about 8 seconds to complete the reset.

There is also a switch inside the door at the handle. This can cause a similar syptom. (The light cycles, but the unit won't start)

If the door switchs are working proper, you may need a new timer.

Also, there is a wiring harness in the door that goes out the bottom of it. The wires tend to get worn and cut in this area.

My new Samsung dishwasher model DW80F600 sometimes will not eject the detergent capsule. Other times it spits it out at the wrong time, leaving it in the bottom of the washer when it is finished.

That sounds strange. It may be that the dishwasher isn't "spitting it out" at the wrong time (at the end of the cycle), but that maybe there is little or no water getting into the dishwasher, and it just isn't dissolving. Every 4th time is very strange too. You might have a bad electronic controller, but I would say this is a time to call out a professional trouble-shooter/repairman (I recommend calling Sears Service for Samsung dishwasher problems).

Kenmore ultra wash dishwasher

The only time I have run into something like this when trying to help a client, we found that there was a shut off switch up on the wall above the counter. It looks just like a light switch and sometimes someone accidently turned it off and the dishwasher no longer worked. I do not know if you might have a situation like that but maybe it might help and save you a service call.

I have a double drawer fisher and paykel DCS dd-224p model. bottom drawer works fine. top not working

These units are nothing but grief!! Problem sounds similar to my one, it caused me no end of problems from the time it was installed and don\'t bother calling F&P service coz it will cost you almost as much as a new dishwasher. They have an inherent prob with circuit board, even service tech (on the quiet) said they are bad.The best thing I did for mine was throw it on the scrap metal pile and bought myself a Meile, not one problem. its super quiet and designed to last 20 years. Use the bottom one till it completely craps itself (prob not long) and then buy a NON F&P one!!!

I have a hobart wm5h undercounter dishwasher. the water is not coming in to the washer? any suggestions?

After checking to see if the water source is supplying water, if the timer motor is going through the entire cycle then focus on the fill solenoid. It will make a big clicking sound as it opens and closes.

Hi,
Below is the service manual link and a web site that I found. refer to the lower section where a person writes in that the fixed the flooding with a hairdryer. I hope this helps, they seem like fantastic dishwashers.

Hobart Dishwasher

I guess I didn't understand your statement of the problem. If you know that the washer has gone through an entire cycle, and it is time to take out the RINSED dishes, yet the washer turns on when you do this, play with the door interlock and the door handle switches. If the cycle seems to have stopped, but you timed it from the beginning of a new cycle and it hasn't done all the steps, and it sprays when you open the door, then you may want to remove the timer motor and clean the contacts/ check for tine damage along with checking the door switches.

Buttons don't respond

I have same model, same problem. The appliance repair person came today and said it was caused by a bad touch panel, which is one of the most expensive parts on the dishwasher - around $200 (plus the service call and labor = $340) and must be special ordered and will take about 2 weeks. Sorry. He said that this is a frequent problem on Kenmore dishwashers.
