Received a new printhead for a 5300 all in one printer from Kodak with no instructions as to how I should go about removing the old one. I have the instructions for putting in the new one from installing...

open the lid to your 5300 all in one printer , pop out your ink cartridges, then take your finger and press directly up under the lip of the old print head at the top in the middle until it pops out then set the new one in like you did the first time when you first got it . remember to push it back until it locks into place . then replace the ink cartridges and make sure to snap those into place as well . I like to do a clean printhead on mine about once every other week just in case. that should take care of it .

Black ink cartridge

You all need a new printhead. If the eyes on the demo sheet (copy and photo at the same time) are coming out all white and they look like zombies the black text isn't working properly. Try cleaning the printhead. If that doesn't work, call kodak, you need a new printhead.

Ink Installation Problem

Ok trust this solution. Go to www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads and try to install the latest firmware. If the firmware does not work, call kodak AiO Tech Support and go through the troubleshooting steps with them. The solution is usually another cartridge or a new printhead. Either way though, the firmware will update the printer so this won't happen after this first fix.

New ink cartridge for Kodak Easy Share 5300 will not work

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.

So to fix your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Kodak AiO 5300 Firmware

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.

I hope this helps
