Question about Xerox Phaser 8200 Laser Printer

Problem printing in color on Xerox Phaser 8200 from Mac

As a small publisher, my Xerox Phaser 8200 gives brilliant service double side printing pages of text and drafts of new books. But when I print anything in color, the result is awful and nothing like what I see on the screen. I've had to buy another printer to print my color covers, etc - but would like to solve this problem and use the Phaser 8200.

     i have the same printer and same problem.  the colours are muddy.  I'm using a mac on leopard. I installed the new drivers.  I set the printer setting on vibrant colour but red looks like orange. all colours are dull and not true colours.  even if i print straight rgb  ie  r 255  it is not red.

    I'm having the same problem with a Xerox Phaser 7400. It is not printing the same true colour as I have on the screen. I have an old HP1220C Deskjet which prints the exact colour match but the Phaser 7400 prints the colours in much darker shades.



    I've just designed a new brochure which looked fantastic on the screen but when I printed it out on the Phaser it looked just ok. Colours were all too dark especially a nice green I had used. I've tried some calibration adjustments but the colour just turns out wishy washy or muddy.

    had it for years with no problems. Connect with ethernet cable. Al of a sudden it "can't find the printer". Replaced the ethernet cable and still no luck. Nothing else has changed. Same mac laptop etc......

That actually should make magazine quality color.
What are you experiencing? Do the colors not match? Are there smears or light streaks?
I will gladly work with you to revolve your problem, I just need a frame of reference to start.
Let me know.
You may simply need to download and install a different driver.
They are on www.xerox.com you should be running the PS version of a driver for better graphics.

    I would like more of an explanation of what your exact color problems are.
    We can make this look absolutely perfect, Help me work through this with you.
    There is much more we can do, unless the PS driver helped.
    Are you closer to what your expecting ? What I said up to this point is very preliminary.
    There is tec color correction we can work with, we can work with driver settings, calibrations on the printer etc. etc.
    So if you need more assistance PLEASE let me know.

    Hi RIck,

    This comment came up onto my post and I was wondering if you could help me out? I'm having an issue with my Phaser 6180N printer where when I tried to print out a certain font at a certain size and with a certain color it almost looks like white diagonal lines are going through it rather then being a solid print out. I'm using a mac and I've tried reinstalling the drivers, I cleared the font cache, I also replaced the fuser and transfer units according to what Xerox's customer service told me. Still no luck. I think tried printing the same project from a different computer and the same thing happens. I then tried printing to a different printer and the print out worked fine. Unfortunately using that 2nd printer for my project wont work because it can't handle the bulk I need. Sorry for the weird way of contacting you I had no other idea of how to try and send you a message. I noticed your post wasn't since 2008, so I really hope you're still connected to this site haha.

Patchy color printing, streaks and dull colors using Phaser 8200


I have the same exact problem. I just switched to a mac and the colors are awful. I tried from 3 different macs at work, trying different combinations of color profiles, settings, etc, and the colors always look completely off. Blues are magenta, bright red is a dull reddish, orange is completely brown. It looks like Xerox decided to not even try to make this aspect work with the Mac. This is on the latest Mac book Pro, running Snow Leopard, to a Xerox Phaser 8560 DN.

Phaser 8200 jet blocking II.


The Phaser 8200 does not have jet subtitution mode. That was first available on the Phaser 8400. You can try to force the jet to clear by making a cleaning page of your own. Make a document with a vertical stripe on the page in the position of the plugged jet in the exact color of the ink in question. Run 100 pages or so at the highest print quality.

Having faced over 100 solid ink printers, my experience tells me that it's hopeless. You'll probably never get that jet cleared. At the age of your printer, you should consider yourself lucky that it's only one. The newer models have ability to work through these types of issues built in.

That normally indicated a heating issue with the print head. Could be the printhead itself or an issue with the electronics module providing the source voltage for that heater

Phaser 860 error code 07.003.45:116163


It is a print head tilt error.
Most likely ink is in the stainless steel pivot block at the bottom of the print head.
Also the printer could have been unplugged and the cleaning blade is stuck to the print head.
Or a cable is binding the print head movement.

Xerox phaser 8400


The first obvious question is, "Does it have blue ink/wax?" Is it displaying any errors? Have you tried the Xerox support site? They have a fantastic utility that can connect to your printer and diagnose many problems. Phaser 8200


Not a problem, but turning it off causes the machine to do a setup, which then purges the ink supply and is very wastful.
