My VX924 did the same thing but now displays nothing and power switch light just blinks. According to an answer listed on previous page, it may have bad capacitors. I may have to take a look at them. Viewsonic repair facility examination of this monitor runs $70.

Cn off switch not working has gone wobbley and loose

The Microswitch behind the button has probably broken or the piece of circuit board holding it has broken so it isn't sitting against the back of the button anymore. You could probably fix it by taking the monitor apart and gluing the button back in position.
