Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Curtis Mathis standard television. When I accidently unplugged it (while it was on) I plugged it back in and now have strange green tones and a circle shaped matting in the screen. Help before my husband gets home.

I prayed to God and then I unplugged the tv and then turned it back on and off three times from across the room with the remote control and the regular color returned.

Screeen color is green

This fault is called one color predominant screen. The cause might be to its video output card itself. There will be some loose solder terminals around the Green video output transistor. Check this card for any loose solder terminals. Just re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. This card can be located at the neck of the picture tube [a rectangular board], will be directly plugged on to the back of the picture tube.

I would suspect that most A.C. cords could work for this TV. It should be soldered to the main board and not plug in. If you do replace it you need to make sure the polarization is done correctly or a shock hazzard could be present!
