Question about Samsung HCM5525W 55" Rear Projection Television

Too much red + double vision viewing

Greetings! I'm having issues w/ my Samsung tv where too much red is visible and there is a double vision effect on the screen. I'm not sure if this is due to convergence or bulb issue but what could this possibly be? The tv works but its mostly red. I've tried to adjust the blue/green more but that doesn't do anything. thank you.

How do I know which part is what I need? Sorry, I'm not very tech saavy w/ tv's.

Guys, it was exactly tht. the STK392-040. I know this is extremely high but my friend just paid someone $300 to come replace these parts. The tv works great but I have to adjust the convergence now.

    Thank you for responding though.

This seems to be a convergence failure on your TV.
If you have hand basic soldering skills and a soldering iron, this might be something you can do.
Check this link for the parts you need.
Goo Luck.

Use the pictures from the link provided just as a reference to locate the parts you need.

The ICs are mounted on 2 big aluminum heatsinks. You will see them once you open the TV.

I'm almost certain this TV is using STK392-040. I will let you know for sure later when I check on the schematic diagram.

    Good Luck.

Tmtmail.co.ukmy samsung projection tv has double vision and i dont know how to amend the lens can yu please help thank you

double vision in a rear projection tv has several reasons. one is convergence magnets are out of tune. u need to tune them which is back side of picture tubes. u please observe that which color is producing the double vision. the lens are firmly fixed & therefore need not to adjust. other option is to adjust the convergence of tv by going to service mode by remote.

We have a Sony KP-43HT20 Projection set that is showing a red or sometimes green shadow or double vision effect can any one help .Should we fix it or buy a new TV

The projection IC's are bad. You can't do this yourself and would probably cost $300 - $400 for a tech to do it. Start shopping.

Picture is double lined of greens and reds

You have a convergence output IC failure. You my also need a few small associated parts as well. Expect to pay $350-450 to have this fixed.

Double vision on my samsung HDTV 1080i

If one or more of the colors, red, green or blue have separated from each other and you can`t correct the problem using the convergence procedure as described in the users manual, that would indicate you have a convergence problem. Bad solder connections on the convergence output chips are common. If the set had a rough ride down the stairs while moving, that may have facilitated in exposing a preexisting condition. However, the most likely cause is the natural failure of one of the convergence output chips and or related components and not the move. The fix is to have a qualified technician address the problem. This is not a do it yourself job.
