if you are using windows starter, the only thing you can change your desktop background is to use third party software like Oceanis Change Background for windows 7.
or upgrade your windows into ultimate or professional inorder for you to change your desktop background.

Right click on your desktop, and click "Personalize." The window that comes up will allow you to change all aspects of your computer's theme, including the background and screen saver. All you need to do to change the background is select a picture(s) that you want, and save the changes.

click on start then click on the control panel.in the control panel click on display .in the display click on the themes and from there you can change the background
nothing works i tried setting my background and i even right-clicked the picture & clicked the set as background & it didnt do anything the picture stayed the same as before. Can anyone give me any advise on how to fix this problem , Like is it even possible to change the background on an acer computer ?
If you have the Windows 7 "Starter Edition" or, on a select few subsidized netbooks (through cellphone carriers), you can not change the background.
Any other version of windows 7 can be changed by: 1) Right-click a blank area on the desktop 2) Select 'personlize' from the menu 3) Select 'Desktop Background' located in the lower left area of the Personalization window. 4) Select your background, hit 'Save changes'
