The DNS failing is because of your Broadband provider. When you purchased their internet, they were supposed to supply you with a modem. If they arent helping you with this, they are scamming you of your money and you need to go with a new provider. The DNS has nothing to do with what you do or what you can do. (Nothing you will do will controll this except for contacting an internet service provider.)

Dns error

DNS stands for Domain Name Service, and it helps in accessing various websites on the Internet. An error regarding the DNS for any particular website usually implies the lack of an active Internet connection. The purpose of DNS is to simply translate the address that a user types on the web browser from the human language into the computer language.

DNS is used to resolve names to numerical IP addresses, which is needed to route traffic onto the Internet. Whenever a URL is entered into the browser, the beginning part is the website's domain name.

One Website Not Working: try contacting other sites on the Internet to see if the DNS error is particular to one website. If only one site is not working, the problem rests with the one website.

Computer Not Connected: another item to check when a DNS error shows up is to see if the computer is on the local network. Check to see if the home or office router can be reached from the computer. If not, the DNS error is from the computer not being able to connect to the local office or home network.

Internet Connection Down: if no websites are working, it might be because the Internet connection is down due to a faulty cable/DNS modem or the ISP is down. Power off and on the modem. If the DNS errors still persist, contact the ISP.

DNS Errors: in the vast majority of cases, DNS errors have nothing to do with DNS. DNS errors are usually one of the first symptoms of internet or wireless connectivity issues.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

My lynksis router can detect the signal of the broadband connection but it cannot access the internet. when u try to browse any website it always says 'Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server...

This sounds like the router does not have DNS settings.

Check the web configuration to make sure that the DNS settings are valid. If there are DNS servers in there, try changing them to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and see if you still get the same problem.

Hope this helps!

I bought a wireless network adaptor for xbox 360. I set it up according to the manuals. When I try to get online with the xbox 360 it recognizes the network, comes up with the ip address, but cannot find...

you do have an account with an isp yeah? eg BT, Tiscali, Sky, etc etc having a wireless router does not in itself get you onto the net... if you have an isp already thats cool but is the router you have a broadband modem too? or does it need to connect to your existing modem? the reason I ask is DNS is dial up networking service and one of the reasons a DNS would not be found is if there simply was not one to be found
