Can some1 help me,Ive bought an N5 and regret it(it wasnt cheap either - £42)...
When it came i loaded some Ds games on it and put it into ds,needless to say it didnt work, then i formatted the card and saved to FAT 32 and was ok last night then this morning little boy switched it on where a black screen appeared saying LOADING.....No matter what i did nothing happened so i switched it off....Tried again and the loading screen was there again ........Tears Galore this morning i can tell you......
I just dont understand why it was ok last night when i formatted it and then over night the games dissappeared and loading screen was there.....
I am puzzled...Can anyone help as i feel ive been duped...
Listen guys, if u have n5 and u are using a 4gb SDHC you need to upgrade the firmware to 1.18 which is the latest right now. I had the same problem, updated the kernel and it works dam good. Here is the link.
click on N5 and download the v1.18
try doing the same method for r4 but use the r4 kernel. Having the latest kernel can save u lots of problems.

Download the latest v1.18 firmware at www.dsn5.com (official N5 site). Follow the instructions in the .doc file which is in the 1.18 rar file.
Format the SD card at FAT32. Copy the files in the order which is mentioned in the .doc file (note: the order is important, otherwise the same issue is coming back)
After that copy your .nds games to the root. And play!!
Keep in mind, your savegames needs space... So don't copy games on it that you don't have any room for your savegames.
I kept at least 10mb free for the savegames.
No problems anymore

Okay the N5 is about 2 gbs its probably the best 1 but look the black screen is there because you have to update yur N5 to the recent one that came out to run the new games that you download. i have this really good site that is very good for downloading updates and if you want i have another site to download games to put onto the N5 or R4.
http://www.r4ds.com/index-en.htm for the updates.
http://www.ndash.eu/ for the games just click enter site.

Hey Dave here. just wondering, what's the size of your micro sd? if its an SDHC 4gb or anything more than 2gb, then the N5 or R4 are not able to support that sized memory. hope that helped =P. oh and if its 2gb or less, then just reformat it and put the games AFTER formatting it. that may be something that messed up your games. hope that helped =D

Just format the mini sd card using FAT.
For me, the n5 won't work if there is more than 99 games.
Just make sure there is less than 99 games.

Hey! ive got the samee problem like 1 year ago, it dont work cause you formatted it, so all the configuration was deleated, you have to go to where you buy it and tell them that if they can install everything again for free, if they say no, go to another store where they sell it hope it helps.

If you have done all the things suggested above then the chances are that you have a faulty N5 chip. When I eventually got a replacement that worked, both 1GB and 2GB cards were fine. I've not tried the 4 and 8 GB memory cards so cannot vouch for those.

- £42 , so expensive and doesn't work well! What a pity!
The quality of N5 is very poor i heared, so i choosed the R4,
I bought my r4ds from www.digimartz.com
half a year ago at $30, i still enjoy it till now .
I just have a look at the store , the price of r4ds is down to $15 now,
if you want to change a new card, i think it is a great deal.

Several issues going on here.
a) many N5 chips are defective, so there is no way out
b) the version of software is not right, use old 1.16 instead of 1.17
c) improperly created .sav file causes this
