Try using a SD card then removing it from the camera and put it in your card reader. Go to My computer click on the "removable disk" or whatever it shows up as and click on the folder/subfolders till you find your images.

I see ..the easiest way if you do have the cd but not a cd rom to run it...is to put the cd into another computer and copy it on a memory stick (flash drive)...I assume that at least a USB port you have ...after that run the driver from the usb stick ...and install it ...plug the camera and thats all.. if this have any impediment let me know and I will link a download location for you ...but my advice is that the original driver is still the best choice ...so if the camera is new...yu probably have the disk and the driver and software needed on it..so ..follow my instructions and is the fastest and best choice..
The USB cable does charge the battery if plugged into pc. The red LED will light while charging and go off when the battery is charged. I cannot find any options to buy the software online but the Support email is: firstname.lastname@example.org
