Vhs is stuck in machine. Won't play and won't eject.

There are any number of reasons why it won't play. The loading basket is jammed, the video tape has got tangled up in the mechanical section of the vcr or the loading gears are stripped. Unplug machine and remove top, [screws side and back] if the tape is spewed carefully remove by cutting it and clean tape particles, for any other problem have a technician check it out.

Tape Stuck

I've checked the entire user manual which notes problems like this need to be referred to authorized service personnel. Myself, I would unplug the entire unit, put it on a kitchen table using a phillips (cross-tip) screwdriver to remove the top metal shell. Remove at least 2 screws each side and 2-5 rear screws securing the top. Nothing like peering inside to see what is causing the VCR to get stuck and help remove it. No release pinhole or tape freeing ejector will work if the unit's tape is tightly wound around some internal object or the tape is stuck because something foreign is inside the unit. Vhs tape stuck in vcr

Some one needs to open it to see if the tape is loaded but wrapped around a post or tangled up.

What usually causes this is the mechanism that moves the tape has a problem---bad or broken belt or rubber drive wheel that moves tape is bad.

Its called eating tapes.

With it apart you may be able to extract the tape and then insert with it apart to see if reels etc are or are not moving in RR and FF first and then in play to see what is not moving.

Tape is stuck, can't remove it

I remove a stuck tape from a VCR by taking off the outside cover. (My unit was held together by 5 screws.) This allowed me to access the tape and check where it was locked. I had to loosen a twisted tape from the mechanism and then I could eject it. (Note: I unplugged the deck before removing the cover.)

I hope this helps.

(I've been fortunate; I've only had to do this on VCR units (not VCR/DVD) that were out of warranty. If your MWR20V6 is still in warranty, you may not want to open the case at home.)

Vcr won't accept tape for recording

Check that the recording tab has not been removed.

If it has, use a small piece of masking tape to cover the hole.

VCR tape stuck in machine

This could be a loading basket issue, or the tape has become tangled in the machine. Unplug the vcr, remove the top cover, if you see tape spewed in the mechanical section, plug the power and turn on, now try eject! if you see the tape pulling disconnect power and cut the tape with scissors and remove all the bits and pieces carefully not to damage the video head. If luck is with us the machine hopefully will eject the main cassette. If the tape is not the problem it is a loading issue, probably will need a technician.

Tapes won't go down, and then eject.

Have you tried to force eject the cassette. May be the ribon of the tape has come out. Try using another cassette.

VCR won't take tape

Is it ejecting the tape when you set up for timed record, or any record mode for that matter? If so, check for the presence of the record lockout tab in the tape. If tab is there, machine should accept it. If machine ejects tape with the tab present, then the sensor which detects tab present or absent is probably afoul. this sensor is often a small switch. This tab, by the way, is on the backside of the tape, on the left, looking at the tape from the back.
