IPod Mini is frozen

I have an older iPod Mini 6GB. When I went to turn it on today, it froze. I cant reset it, it won't respond to anything I do. The screen is lit up and frozen. I tried plugging it into my power adapter, also my compter and then reset my computer. Nothing.

-   My ipod has displaying a tick on screen after being switched on, and I cannot shift it, if this is called "frozen", could you please how to put it right, as I don't have a clue, also why does this happen.
