Hi Nellya

We'll need a bit more information in order to be of assistance.

(01) Do you want to "restore" your operating system from CD's and do not have the restore CD's?

(02) Or - Is the issue that you normally boot off of CD or diskette and now that device or method isn't working? If this is the case, please, provide us w/ the details of how you normally boot up your computer.

(03) What operating system is your computer running - and - is it the original operating system?

If your answer is "Yes" to question (01), what you need is a CD of your operating system and its product key code. Look on the bottom of your computer for a COA (certificate of authenticity) sticker that will include your operating system's product key code). Since the drivers are available from Toshiba's web site, you may use an OEM operating system CD to restore your system using your original product key code (found on that sticker). If the sticker is not there but your computer is still bootable, we can help you to recover your operating system product key code.

Below are some links that might be helpful for you in the interim. Please, do post back w/ more info., though so we can help.

    Hi Nellya,

The link I supplied you for the Toshiba TE 2000 Users' Guide did not work properly. Please, try this one (below). If it does not work either, you may get to the Users' Guide by clicking on the 2nd link below.

You may also call Toshiba and see if, for a nominal fee, they can provide you w/ a system restore CD (if what you need is to restore your operating system). There's a strong possibility that they will not be able to but it doesn't hurt to try.

You can try to boot your toshiba te 2000 up under safe mode. To do this, you start your computer, keep pressing F8 right away, if you keep pressing you should get a startup options, and select safe mode, then it will ask you which operating system (if you have it double partitioned) otherwise it should boot up under the safe mode, otherwise you will have to have the disc.

Hope this helps.

If it is that messed up . I would reformat the hard drive and do a clean install. When you have a new computer make a recovery disc, you can boot from that and fix any faults.

Your install discs are bad. Please don't shoot the messenger. Call Toshiba for new discs. Here is the number (it took me 30 minutes to find this. Please give me a 4-thumbs-up rating. If you don't, I spent time away from family for free).

A little confusing - you don't need a 'disc' in order to reboot your notebook.

What happens when you hold down the CTRL, SHIFT, DELETE keys?

Reboot portege m200

You will need to either:

Contact Toshiba to supply a restore disc.

or

Borrow an operating system disc from someone you may know and use the Windows COA that matches yours (eg. Vista Home Basic) to reinstall Windows.
