Thankyou with help for the scrubber. I do still have a problem. I thought I had put unit together the way is hould have been, but I think I forgot a part or installed it wrong. There are two ports on the underside of the unit. One is lcoated next to the air filter screen. The other is abt. 4" to the left of the other port hole. When I turn unit on large amts of air is coming thru both ports & the brushes are not turning. Did I forget a part or just installed something wrong. Thankyou oldoodsman

I have asked before on my problem with the Hoover Steamvac F7425-900. However, I still have not yet fixed my problem. I replaced the drive unit that rotates & turnes brushes. Underneath on bottom side of unit is a ivory colored plate. Now just in front of this plate, towards clear plastic where brushes go, are 2 holes where right now a large amt. of air is exiting. Iam sure this is not right. Have I misplaced a part or installed something wrong. The hoses on top of unit are attached correct. Please help me if you can. Will be awaiting your reply Mike

Thanks for the information reddevil6. I just purchased this SteamVac last month and I used it three times. I cleaned it after each use. I read all the literature on what not to do and what to do. So the unit said that it has enough grease for life of product??? When I took the turbine apart on both sides, there was no grease. Lubed the it up and runs like a champ. Thanks

There some screws off from the bottom, remove the top cover, the turbine has 2 screws on the front of it and there 2 long screws you take off from the bottom, remove the tubing and it should come loose. Some times you can take it apart and clean the inside parts and it will work ok, if that doesn't do it then you have to replace it.

The 2 ports on each side of the turbine are for the tubing to hook to. There should have been a tube on each side of the turbine.

Brushes not turning and water not being picked up

Frozen up Turbine is a 95% probable problem. Bearings rust! Take brush block out ad insert a screw driver (size of brush bock stem)where brush block stem goes up and in. Insert and try turn screw driver. Should turn fairy easy, some resistance because gear driven! Common problem! Can buy turbine on Ebay but be careful you order the right one for your model. They look the same but 5 brush and 6 brush turbines are different. Think I paid about $36 for one and did it myself but not the easiest. Good luck!

Spin brushes not turning

Most all Hoover SteamVacs rely on a turbine to create suction and spin the brushes. The brush block (removable, just clips in) will have one of the 5 or 6 brushes with a stem inserted up and in the turbine. Hoover did a poor job sealing the hole that stem goes through and water and cleaner seep up to the lower bearing on the turbine and the bearing siezes. The turbine has a gear assembly inside! It is not easy to replace the turbine, especially the first time because what needs to be removed can be a head scratcher. However goes easier the second time. The turbine can be taken apart once out and I have used light grease to free up the bearing and gears but it's only a temporary fix. Different models have different part # turbines so pay attention when ordering the part. Need a work bench environment to do this. On occasion the brush block itself can get stuck because the brushes gear mesh together and the stemed brush drives them all. They can and do bind up with junk and do wear down and bind. If you can't turn all 5 or 6 brushes by spinning with your fingers on the stem, the block itself could need replacing. The block and brushes do come apart for cleaning but be careful because they are plastic clips on both halves of cover/retainer and can break.

Brushes aren't turning. switch is on

Remember that the brushes turn best when the handle is tipped back. If this does not work, remove the brush assembly and insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush usually fits into. Try to turn the fitting. If it won't turn, the air driven turbine has seized up and will require replacement.

Brushes won't spin

First, please be sure to unplug your Steam Vac and remove both the clean water and the dirty water tank.
There should be a square stem that sticks up in the center of your brush assembly. If this stem is broken you will need to replace the complete brush assembly. If the stem is good; turn your cleaner on it's side and check in the area where the brush assembly goes (with the brush assembly removed). In the center of this area there is a square hole where the stem from the brush assembly goes. The square hole is in the bottom of the turbnie that spins your brushes. Using a large flat blade screw driver (not so large that you'll damage the hole), stick it in to the square hole and try to spin it. It should spin freely, if it is very hard to spin or won't spin at all, your turbine is bad and will need to be replaced.

Brushes donot turn when asked to shampoo

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine will have to be replaced. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below.

If the stem is not making proper contact to the recepticle, then this is one issue. replace the brush block. The other issue could be turbine related, requiring a service shop repair. also check the red filter under the machine for lint.

Belt replacement Hoover carpet cleaner

Hoover steamvacs don't use belts. If the brushes are not turning, pull the brush block out, turn the machine on and see if the square hole where the brush block was, is turning. If not then the turbine is bad. Sometimes you can take the turbine apart and clean it out. most times I have found , replace it.
