Question about JVC TH-M303 System

1 Answer

No sound. I have no sound through my system, the woofer light comes on and everything else seems to be working. After searching through your solutions page I plugged my headphones in and got sound back. Any advice or is it screwed?

Did you get sound through the entire system after plugging in the headphones? If so, the headphone jack is acting as a switch and probably has some dirt/debris that should be cleaned. The easiest way to do this is to get some electronic switch cleaner (one that contains a lubricant as well) and spray into the headphone jack. Insert and remove the headphoe plug a number of times and the problem should be resolved.
Update this if the problem returns and we'll look further.

Ok. That helps a bit. The "amp" for the headphone can be different that the amp for the remainder of the system depending on the design. In your particular case, the headphone amp is most likely a 4558 chip. That means that the output amp is in protect mode. There is a problem in the final stage that is preventing the system from turning on the speakers. This is to prevent damage to either the speakers or the amp itself. I believe that this model uses discrete transistors, so that the parts will run $15-$25. Add to that the local labor rate for the compete repair cost.

I have a jvc Sp-smw505 surround sound but I only have the subwoofer. It appears to only work with that surround sound . it has a s-video Jack that they are using for a controller. This unit plugs in but...

You most likely can use it with another system however, you will need to search for a schematic for the s-video to find out what kind of power supply you would need to buy to power the sub-woofer and what pins you would use to connect the audio signal.

5.1 Dolby system does not work with the T.V.

Solution: connected the rear right and left wires to the Front , left and right wires......................and everything works the way I anticipated without any technical problems....... the woofer works on a separate circuit, so I continue to receive the "low" frequency..

No sound form my magnavox mrd-200

As long as the colored connections are in the correct holes (red with red and so on) then you should have sound if not then the built in amplifier is shot, it is probably better if you get a new system or contact Magnavox for a exchange price on out of warranty units which they have

I was moving around my large woofer speaker last night and then all of a sudden the unit went into protection mode. I tried all the various solutions posted on here and nothing worked. Then I went back to my speaker connections on the woofer and unplugged them and plugged them in again and it seems to be ok now. Very annoying problem. Can I suggest unplugging all the speaker cables and replugging them back in. Also another solution may have been holding down the power button when powering up the unit. Give all the above a try.

unless there are some other connectors that may be used, i would think that the issue would be resolvable thru the system settings menu, there may be a speaker arrangement setting somewhere in the menus. The Sub is a .1 setting like 5.1 or 7.1, perhaps even 2.1 where the beginning number is the speaker channels and .1 is the sub. I would think with the sub being on a mono channel it woul/should work with any setting. If there is any more info you could supply I will further research this issue and try to help you get the sub working.

No reception or sound on rear speakers.

Here's the fix: power off the sub-woofer and wait for 60 secs before powering it on again. My rear receiver works every time now.  I guess the sub-woofer isn't just a dumb speaker; it has some kind of smarts in it too.
Prior to this, I had only tried cycling power to the DVD player itself.  I also re-seated the two, fat cables connected to the junction box. One of them had worked itself slightly loose and the result was completely absent speaker channels.
