Hi, My m505 was not responding accurately to the stylus. I needed to touch the stylus about an inch below where I wanted it to register. I've had this problem before, but the distance of this mis-register was close enough that I could re-calibrate by touching the stylus on the marks on screen. This time, because I had to tap an inch or more below where I wanted to tap, I couldn't get to the screen to re-calibrate. I tried soft resets. No change. I tried several hard resets and it cleared the memory, but the very first screen asks to tap the stylus on a mark top left of screen, but when I tap there, there is no response. I had let the battery get down to warning me of low battery (just cos I hadn't recharged it for a while). Is there a solution?
Many thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards, Glen

if the touchscreen doesn't work at all, and you can't align or calibrate it, or it presses on wrong spots even after calibrating many times, digitizer(which is the touch part on top of the lcd display) is most likely broken and would need to be replaced. On rare cases reattaching digitizer cable and making sure that the digitizer is clean and intact and properly on its position may solve the issue.
If you are inside warranty the repair may be completely free, contact your dealer or palm.
Outside of warranty, you have 3 options.
Replace digitizer yourself, you can find a replacement from ebay.
Send it to palm for out of warranty repairs, probably around 100usd.
Take it to a local professional who can replace digitizer for you.
Note: In some phones the digitizer may be connected into the lcd in away that it can't be easily replaced. In these cases You will have to replace the whole screen. if the touch is non responsive after the replacement, the issue could be with the connector or then you have a faulty main board Thanks, let me know if you have any questions and good luck. Try recalibrating the touch screen. Devices with touch screens need to be recalibrated in order to respond properly. The greater the use, the more often recalibration is necessary. I recalibrate my phone once a week. I hope this helps.
i did all things described to get the screen workin, pressed the red n green buttons simultaneously n with the friggin stylus i pressed the reset button underneath, pulled the battery out a coupla million timesn put it in, but it jus doesnt unlock, the touchscreen aint workin, i can call, mssag or do anything except recieve calls, Arpan
Try running a piece of paper around the edge of the screen. There may be was something
stuck in there, pressing the screen slightly and causing it
to not respond to the stylus.
This is straight from Palm Support... 1.Press and hold the UP button on the front panel of your device.
2.While holding the UP button, use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus, to gently press the RESET button inside the hole on the back of your device
3.The Palm Computing Platform screen will appear. Release the UP button when you see it.
I have an M505 with the same problem. After taking off the back cover, I found a defective (short circuit) SOT23 device nearly centered just below the expansion card slot. The markings are A5RGC, but I have been unable to verify whether this may be a programmable UJT (BRY61), a transistor or a diode. Does anyone have a schematic diagram, or kno where to get one?
