Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Protect mode activated on my small aiwa midi, wont come on at all or will it alow me to press any buttons just says on screen 'protect' please can u help

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

If the TV audio originates at a SAT or Cable Box, treat it like any other external digital audio source.

Wont stay turned on

Protect means that there's a short on a speaker exit. To find in which just remove the speakers one by one till the message disappear. If it's there even without all the speakers then the fault is internal, in one of the amplifiers - the unit must be dismantled and the parts checked by someone who knows electronics, a professional.

Hi i have just purchased a second hand ht-dv90,the problem is it will only play one dvd film that i have and will not play any of the others ,any ideas on what the problem is.i dont fancy watching the same...

Hi, sounds like a zone issue. Check the zone on the one works and I'm sure you will find it different to the others. Not sure if there is a slution there as will have to change the zoning on it.

Regards

DVD not working!!

The protect message is to indicate either an over temperature condition or an over current. First ensure that all air flow areas are clear this includes ensuring that there are no components placed directly on the Once. Second I would take the cover off and vacuum the guts. A build up of dust will inhibit the units ability to control heat. Third check your load. How do you have your speakers configured. i.e.: two 4 ohm pairs of speakers wired in parallel will drop the amp to 2 ohms. Most amps are not to partial to 2 ohm or higher. Fourth ensure that you are not overworking your amp. If the music is distorting at all your past safe.
