I have compac presario V2000 and having problem DVD-RW drive. It does not read CD. When I click from drive directory then the contents shows empty. I still can read DVD-movie, Presario-driver-CD. The device manager shows working property with "HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4080N". There might be I accidentally uninstalled something *3**filter** software but I doupt it was reason for this problem. Is there any reason suddenly stop working only read CD. I am sure the CD contents is good. problem is presario DVD-RW-drive. Is there something require specific software to make the HDW works property more than drivers?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the notebook in question doesn't have a DVD drive. After looking at driver for that model, it appears it's only a CD capable machine. Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Look at the drive, are there any markings on it, i.e. a "DVD-ROM" or a "DVD" logo? How about a "CD-R" or CD-R/W" logo? If it does not have any type of DVD logo, then it's not DVD capable.
