Olympus Underwater MJU 795 LEAKS

I have had my so called underwater camera for a month. I used it in the water a few times. After about the 5th time in the water it leaked through the battery. Of course this ruins the camera. Took it back for warranty repair and low and behold Olympus is not so willing to stand by their warranty. So for double the price of the camera they were willing to fix it.

I have only used the camera in 4 water situations, once in the pool as a test, and a few times down the Green River. I regularly let it dry once it has been in a wet situation, yet it still gets water on the inside of the lens and the screen. Very disappointing.

I had the same problem, got it fixed, just to leak again! How disappointing!!! Should have gotten a regular camera, at least the pic quality would be good!

Olynpus 770 SW 18 months old has blur spot on all images top left corner.
Started this after a snorkling event.
Can only assume water made it's way into the camera.
Any suggestions on how to repair or, know of a source for breakdown illustrations?

Why advertise waterproofness and even have multiple underwater picture options when the camera just can't withstand it? Same deal. Bought the camera for minor underwater use and because I manage to beat things to death. The camera works but no more image on the LCD. Image quality has always been terrible. Do not buy this camera.

I have an olympus 770 sw I used to have the same problem... the solution is after using your camera make sure the camera is dry and open the slot for the battery and clean it and do the same for the other slot somtimes youll get small debree in the cracks of your cameras cover for the battery slot thats were the water enters. I use a little bit of vaseline on the rubber pading for the battery cover to lube it out and had no problems sinse.

As all humans should know this as a fact, nothing made to day is 100 percent waterproof. dont mind what the data says, water will find its way anywhere and everywhere. as a matter of speaking, the only thing that you have is water proof, is your self.

Hi, After taking the camera snorkling, it seemed to stop functioning. The camera powers up but only shows up a blank screen. It may also sometimes show a camera icon - stating that the "camera...

How deep did you take the camera? The manufacturer website states: WATERPROOF (16FT.). A revolutionary system of waterproof seals and gaskets keeps water out so you can take pictures as deep as 16 feet underwater. If it was deeper than that, the gaskets probably let water in due to the pressure of being underwater. (Basically it means the camera let water in and as such probably will not work right again)

My Olympus Stylus Tough -6000 lost its underwater capability. it gets wet no matter how much i make sure the battery and USB gaskets/seal clean. can it still bi fixed? how?

I wish there was a way I could shout this to everyone so they would all know it at once....ALL SO-CALLED "WATERPROOF" POINT AND SHOOT CAMERAS WILL EVENTUALLY LEAK. THIS WILL USUALLY HAPPEN AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN THOSE "ONCE IN A LIFETIME" PICTURES. The only real underwater cameras are in a special underwater housing.

I have a 550 WP underwater cameraI I used it for 2 days on land but after a few snaps underwater it shut down and I haven been able to start it since . The batteries have been checked and are fully charged...

Unfortunately, these "waterproof" cameras don't always work as advertised. If the camera is still under warranty, I'd start there. It may be too late for this, but an old trick to dry out electronics is to put it in a bag of white rice for a few days to absorb moisture. It's a long shot, but I revived a wet cell phone once this way.

Blurry lens after using it underwater

Sadly that symptom indicates that the camera is broken.

The device's seal protects both from the condition that you are seeing, but also protects the internal circuits from moisture.

If water has gotten inside the camera, I would pursue returning it and getting a replacement from the company.

Not so waterproof?

Since the camera is billed as waterproof I would send it to an Olympus service center for an evaluation to see if it going to be covered under warranty for repair if I were you. The repair techs will evaluate the camera and let you know if it is indeed repairable.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $107.85 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Camera stopped operating

Well I know what the review says about underwater to five meters http://www.ephotozine.com/article/Olympus-Mju-725SW

but I would take it with a pinch of salt frankly.
You could get onto Olympus and tell them you know- 'You said I could take it under water - now it wont work' - They may replace it
