To get the opt out pitcture is first your signal & your happy with that. So, I would contact a local store or service center that does calibrations. They will go into your service menu & adjust your tv to it's max. Enjoy...hd.

I referred to the online manual from the Panasonic website located HERE
And dug for any reference to PIP or Picture in Picture settings.
Unfortunately, I found nothing. Sorry

I am just looking for the best custom settings for my 42" Panasonic TC-P42C2 Flat Screen TV. Is there already a list of custom specs out there?

There is not a listing - because every set will be different.

You need a calibration DVD to get the optimum settings.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Ideal picture settings for optimum picture for L42A403

There really is no set optimum settings, every room has different lighting,ambiance,type of lights, windows, and different seating positions, and all that has an effect on your final settings, not to mention everyone of us see differently. If you feel you need the precise adjustments of calibration(which I have never needed) go purchase a HDTV calibration DVD and follow the directions. Good Luck !

What have users said about what setting get the otimum picture...I have a 42 80u

Beauty is in eye of the beholder. Manufactures give options: brightness, contrast, detail & ect. So, adjust your tv to your eye, OR you can call a local tv repair shop that does calibrations. They vary in cost from $150.00 to 450.00. NOTE: the manuufacture will not do this, it is the responsibility of the store to set up, but not to this detailed. Good look and your tv.

Best picture mode

Speed= Shutter Speed
A= Apeture
M=Manual
P=Program
I you are asking about the meaning of the above this suggests you are just starting out so the best setting is P[Program]
This lets the camera select for its self the optimum settings.
With more than 60 years of photography behind me - I still use 'P' for snapping around.
If you want to go further you will have go get a good book.

Video settings

There really is no generic "Optimum Settings"... It basically comes down to what looks good to YOU. If you really want to get it as close to the original source recording as possible, get a movie like "Fantasia 2000" that has the THX video optimizer. The disc has a series of tests and procedures to help you configure the video settings for the most accurate picture.
