To get the opt out pitcture is first your signal & your happy with that. So, I would contact a local store or service center that does calibrations. They will go into your service menu & adjust your tv to it's max. Enjoy...hd.

Panasonic TV slow to turn on, works fine after it turns on.

If you have to try to turn it on several times it is power supply related.

If dirty inside on fans etc it would cause set to shut down(the set monitors the fans for speed)>

I would suggest (take it outside) using a air compressor and cleaning the entire set out.

Lamps do fail---average life is 2000 hours for a original lamp and much less for a generic one.

If picture comes up try to watch the light from the lamp---if dim at first and then slowly comes up---it could be the lamp or the ballast the set uses to power the lamp.

Dim picture on Samsung HLS4266W, wondering if this simply means to replace the bulb?

It sounds like you may need a new lamp. When the lamp stops functioning, you will not have a picture and the lights on the On/Off control (Lower Speaker Bar, Middle of Set) will flash on and off. Search for instructions, it is easy to replace. Once replaced, the picture is as bright as when new.

found that a setting that would skip this port when going through the TV/Video button menu.

To solve follow these steps - Menu -> Channels -> Other Adj. -> Input Lable -> digital - IN -> If set to skip change to what ever you want.

Connected the Wii to new Panasonic 42 in plasma. Had been working fine on Sony Vega 27 in. Now picture quality is terrible and there is no sound. Checked all TV and Wii settings and unable to fix it.

That's probably down to the AV cable. Have you tried it on another TV to eliminate the TV?How are you connecting? Component or Scart adapter? Tried swapping from one to the other to eliminate any possible issues?

What have users said about what setting get the otimum picture...I have a 42 80u

Beauty is in eye of the beholder. Manufactures give options: brightness, contrast, detail & ect. So, adjust your tv to your eye, OR you can call a local tv repair shop that does calibrations. They vary in cost from $150.00 to 450.00. NOTE: the manuufacture will not do this, it is the responsibility of the store to set up, but not to this detailed. Good look and your tv.
