The port should be at the top of the Wii console. All you have to do is open the controller socket cover on the top of the Wii (if you haven't already) and plug in your dance pad into port 1.

make sure the pad has batteries and that it is turned on. the consul will not pick it up if it's not on.

If it is a wii dance pad the hook ups are on the top. They are round with one flat side. If you have a dance pad that is supposed to go to the wii or xbox you are going to have to conact them and get an adapter. There should be a 1-800 number on the box.
