Camera problem with an old Canon "Sure Shot Max". The lens will not emerge when the opening switch is used. Battery is new, and film has loaded ok. Any ideas?

Try tapping gentley the beck of the camera or helping the lens to extend by pulling them with your finger nail, see if this can unlock the lens gears.

If you camn get the lens to extend, the problem is solved

KODAK M863 LENS STUCK

Here's what I did...Mine had the lens stuck out and would not power on. Just a green blinking for a second or two. Well, I tried twisting the lens ring closest to the camera while hitting the power button. It's kinda tricky to do...BUT, just keep at it. Mine was a $1 resale shop "find" and now it works. This worked for me. Maybe it will help you!

Lens error

ouch - - I have a 995 coolpix.
I 'smacked' mine hard from the side, and this relocated the mechanism (I crippled mine by attaching to my roadrace bike - it did not like the vibration) works fine now though.

Would recommend :
1 - dismantle carefully, and you will probably find the mechanism has misaligned
2 - submit to nikon for repair (or other repair house)
3 - I have a 4300 you can buy

There are several helical guides in the lens that often work their way loose. A good techincian can repair it quite easily. I see them a lot in my shop and the average repair runs between $70 and $90.

The lens keep going in and out

mine camera did the same thing. i gave it to my techno neighbor guy and hours later he gave me my camera back and it was FULLY functional! he "hit it several times" thus jarring the lens back into place! (i could have gone w/o hearing that but, hey! it works!

Nikon D40 will not take a picture.

I fixed it!! Turn the lens to Manual mode (moving to M). Twist the very tip of the lens till it unlocks.

If you twist the lens on the end far enough on the end to the right you will find it "locks". This is what is causing the screeching sound,, it's locked and can't auto focus. Twist the very end to the left till it releases. This fixed it for me.
