You have to reinstall the os xp or vista, if its branded pc the restore cd/dvd should be there and you can use it. if its compatible or assembled one you should purchase original or pirated xp or vista cd/dvd and boot from it to install os

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

reinstalling the operating system If you can run Windows...1 Click (Start), All Programs, eMachines, then click eMachines Recovery Management. eMachines Recovery Management opens. 2 Click the Restore tab, then click Restore system to factory default. The Confirm Restoration dialog box opens. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions to finish.

You still need to download Windows updates and antivirus updates to bring your computer's software up to date.

NTLDR is missing is displayed when i turn on the computer

The "NTLDR is missing", error displays very shortly after the computer is first started; after the Power On Self Test (POST) is complete. Windows XP might only initially load when the NTLDR error message appears. Causes of this error message include corrupt and misconfigured files, hard drive and operating system upgrade issues, corrupt hard drive sectors, an outdated BIOS, and damaged or loose IDE cables.

Computer won't turn on it say's \WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM---Windows could not start because the following is missing or corrupt: You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using...

Borrow that CD-ROM from any friend who does have one -- you don't need to have your "original" disk.

Or, telephone eMachines, and order a replacement set of "System Restore" disks.
Probably $20, plus $20 for overnight-courier shipping.

Boot mgr Is missing on a tobisha laptop

Method 1:
Use the following procedure to repair the file system on the hard drive:
  1. Turn off the computer and wait at least 5 seconds with the computer in a full off state.
  2. Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly as the computer starts. An "Advanced Boot Options" screen opens.
  3. Select Repair Your Computer and press Enter.
  4. Select a keyboard layout that matches your country/region and click Next.
  5. When the login prompt appears, select the user name with Administrator rights (not Administrator) from the User Name drop down. The user name with Admistrator rights is most likely the first user name that was entered during the initial computer setup.
  6. Type the logon password into the Password field and then click OK.
  7. A System Recovery Options window opens.
  8. Click Startup Repair.
A Startup Repair window opens and automatically scans for startup problems.
  1. Perform the actions suggested by Startup Repair: system restore, correct damaged or missing files, or other action.
  2. After Startup Repair has been used, try to open Windows.
    • If Windows Vista opens, you are done.
    • If Windows Vista does not open, perform the first portion of this section again to open the Startup Recovery Options window and continue.
  3. From the Starup Recovery Options window, click Command Prompt.

  1. Enter the following at the command prompt:
bootrec /fixboot
  1. Enter the following at the command prompt:
bootrec /fixmbr
  1. After the bootrec tool has been used, close all open Windows to restart the computer and open Windows.
    • If Windows Vista opens, you are done.
    • If Windows Vista does not open, continue using these steps.
  2. Perform a full system recovery using recovery discs. For more information refer to the HP support document Performing an HP System Recovery in Windows Vista .
If the recovery cannot be completed from recovery discs, replace the hard drive.

My emachine freezes up at start up

Try starting it in the Safe Mode: Right after the first text appears on the screen, start tapping either F5 or F8 to access the startup menu. It won't have much of a selection; typically safe mode, normal and prompt only. Choose safe mode.
Since you did not give the model number, I don't know if you have Big Fix on your machine or not, most eMachines do. To find it, open the Start Menu, All programs, then look for the name. If there, choose it and look at whatever error logs it has to show you.
If you don't find anything apparent there, click on Start, then All Programs, then Accessories. Look down the list and locate System Tools, then click on System Restore.
Select 'Restore my computer to an earlier time' and then 'Next.' You will be presented with a calendar and the dates in bold will be valid restore points. If you have System Restore tracking disabled (it is enabled by default), well, then consider it a lesson. This is the preferred method of restoration since it only refreshes system files and leaves your personal files untouched.
You may have to use recovery discs or download the needed installation routines from the eMachines website. Be advised though, if you do a full reinstallation, any work you have not backed up will be gone.
If you don't have any protection against an invasion by malware, at least download and install MicroSoft Defender.  It's free and can give you a fairly decent layer of protection against some common junk.
