I have a Acer 5315-2122 laptop and I was told by the geeksquad at Best Buy that I have to leave my ram in the bottom. Any additional ram must be stall under the keyboard. I remove the keyboard and I didn't find an extra slot.

I have an Aspire 5315 and can't remove the back cover. I removed the screws and am afraid to use too much force and damage the back cover. My other laptop was much easier to remove cover. Are there hidden screws or any special trick? Please help me.

    TY in advance,

    Anne

The back plate won't come off after screws are removed.

Follow these steps to install memory:
1 Turn off the computer, unplug the AC adapter (if connected) and remove
the battery pack. Then turn the computer over to access its base.
2 Remove the screws from the memory cover; then lift up and remove the
memory cover. Looks like this:

2 (a) remove the current memory by spreading the clips in either side of the stick, and gently pull it out (carefull with the clips, as they can easily break)
3 (a) Insert the memory module diagonally into the slot, then (b) gently press
it down until it clicks into place.
4 Replace the memory cover and secure it with the screw.
5 Reinstall the battery pack, and reconnect the AC adapter.
6 Turn on the computer.

The computer automatically detects and reconfigures the total memory size

There should be a small door (with screw) on underside of laptop. Be sure to have power off and maybe even battery pulled before installing RAM.

The back does come off but needs a little force. There are small lips holding it firm with longer ones at the opposite side to where the lifting indent is so be careful not to snap these off.

How to Upgrade to max RAM

The Acer Aspire One can be upgraded to a total RAM of 2Gigs. This will allow for you to upgrade to Windows XP Pro and also to Microsoft Office 2003 as there is no version of Office Professional. If you would like more specifics on your particular model, please look here. http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/acer-aspire-one-10-inch.aspx?page=3

Upgrading RAM is a fairly simple process. As this is a fairly compact laptop in design, you will have to upgrade to a new 2Gig RAM module and basically discard (or sell) the one you end up removing. In order to find out the type of RAM you'll need, remove the cover as show in the picture and the info for the existing RAM should be written on it.

Good luck!

Is this any graphic card available for aspire 5315?

No, your laptop has an integrated graphics controller and no slot to put a better one in there. That is typical for a laptop, most do not have slots for upgrading components like desktops do.

How to install memory upgrade for acer aspire 5315-2698 ICAN NOT GET THE PANEL TO OPEN TO GET TO THE RAM SLOTS

One othe slots for memory is under your laptop, and the other one is under you keybord. The one under you can reach by loosing the screws to the hatch. The one under your keyboard you can reach by remove your keyboard, the screws to remove the keyboard is behinde your laptop, they are on the hinge.
Be VYRY VERY carefull when you removing the keyboard, its al plastic and very very easy to break. Loose the screws on the both hinge, pull the keyboard backwards and up.
As i sayed before, do it very very carefull.

Good luck to you

I'm trying to upgrade the memory on my acer aspire 5315. I've removed the 4 screws from the large cover but the cover won't come up easily and i'm afraid to force it.

whao... NEVER force something like that ESPECIALLY around the memory... you know you're supposed to be grounded before touching the RAM, right?... touch the case of a computer (on like the power supply) just before you work on it and as long as the computer was grounded... and turned on... you'll be grounded too... stay off the carpet at this point... try to do it in like a kitchen or something... or you can ruin the RAM... try sliding the cover in all different directions... you may just have to get Acer tech support on the line... I've upgraded Laptop Ram before, but laptops are different... try looking it up on the web... for a manual... I had to use one for an HP...
