How do you turn down the volume for all the chatting during an online game? I hear a lot of distortion only when i play online. When i play on normal mode the sound is fine.

The game you are playing should have an adjustment for online chat volume when you are in the options for online play, alternitavely if you use a bluetooth headset you can control the sound of the other players with the headset.

Hope this helps.

What do i do if i'm trying to get playstation network on and it says i need an update but when i say yes it says i have the latest update!!! so it wont let me sign in

Not sure if this has to do with your problem, but the Playstation Network has been taken down by hackers. All online games will not work while they are fixing the issue. Netflix has worked for me, so some online content may work. This has affected everyone around the world. This occurred during the time you posted this problem.

They don't a time frame yet of when it will be back up. It seems that some of our personal information may have been compromised as well.

Hi there, When my son plays call of duty on ps3 during the game he experiences "pinning" distortion on the the video display. Could it be the settings ? Cheers Peter

The PlayStation 3 has very limited settings when compared to a pc, generally there aren't any settings other than resolution. If you are using an HDTV, I would recommend turning the resolution down. If this does not solve the problem, I would suggest looking at the disk for any scratches. If THIS does not help, please post a more detailed description of the problem.

I keep getting signed out of the Playstation Network Keeps saying error 80710A06 HEELLLPPPP!!!!

80710A06 - An error occurred during the install operation (error when downloading game from PSN - network error occured

This error can occur when the PlayStation Network is down, or when your router is not forwarding ports.

It does appear that the network is down, as stated here. However, you can still check to see if port forwarding is the issue.

To check if you are port forwarding, visit this site and select the router you are using.
http://portforward.com/
These are the ports needed to be forwarded:

-This may not be required if your router has an option called UPNP-
  • TCP:
    • 80
    • 443
    • 5223
  • UDP:
    • 3478
    • 3479
    • 3658 (voice chat)

Error code 80010514

Sony has a few fixes for this.

Visit PLAYSTATION 3 System Software Update to download and install the most recent version.

To check what version of the System Software is currently installed on your PLAYSTATION 3:

  1. From the XMB™ home menu, go to icn_settings.gif(Settings) > icn_syssettings.gif(System Settings) > [System Information].

The system will display the System Software version number.
OR During certain troubleshooting situations, it may be necessary to restore all of the PLAYSTATION 3 system settings back to their original "default" configuration.

  1. From the XMB™ home menu, go to icn_settings.gif(Settings) > icn_syssettings.gif(System Settings) > [Restore Default Settings].

  2. Once you select [Restore Default Settings], you will see a list of settings that will be restored. Scroll through them and press the icn_btnx_color.gifbutton to restore the settings.

  3. After the operation is complete, you will see the initial setup screen that appeared the first time you turned on the PLAYSTATION 3.
You will need to go through the initial setup process before you can use the PLAYSTATION 3.
IMPORTANT
The Restore Default Settings feature will erase any previously saved settings and restore all of the following settings to the default:
  • BD/DVD Settings
  • Music Settings
  • Chat Settings
  • System Settings
  • Date and Time Settings
  • Accessory Settings
  • Display Settings
  • Sound Settings
  • Security Settings
  • Network Settings
  • Internet Browser Settings
Also, do not confuse "Restore Default Settings" with the "Restore PS3 System" option (the next option down on the menu). The "Restore PS3 System" will not only restore the default settings, but it will also delete all hard disk content. (You will lose all saved content from your PS3 system's hard drive if you use "Restore PS3 System.)

OR

Power-Cycle All Network Equipment Power-cycle means to turn the networking devices OFF (i.e., unplug it from the power source), and then to turn it back ON after a set period of time. This will allow the network devices to refresh its settings.

Please power-cycle ALL of your network equipment, including any wireless access points, routers, Voice Over IP (VOIP) modems, and broadband modems for two (2) full minutes. After 2 minutes, you can turn on (or plug in) your equipment.
Hope this helps. Good luck and happy gaming!! // //

You need to go into safe mode and Restore Default Settings.
Hold down power button in front of your computer keep holding it down untill you hear 2 quick beeps. Then let go of the power button. You should be in safe mode. How click down to RESTORE DEFAULT SETTING AND FOLLOW THE SIGN-UP PAGES. Use your account sign-in e-mail address and password. If you bought any games and downloaded from playstation store you can reload them from there they have a recorded of all downloads. You will have to redownload them.
NOTE: never turn the power button off from the back of the playstation when you are sign-in this will make it happen again always sign-out.
