I have a HP tower and compaq monitor, does this affect the speakers on the monitor? Since I changed the towers out the sound hasn't worked

HP and Compaq are actually now one company. So depending on the age of your tower and the age of the monitor they should be compatible.

First you should check the small speaker icon located in the task bar in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Is there a red circle with a line through it?
First check your connections to the speakers. There are a couple ways to get the audio signal to the speakers so make sure you have a connection that can carry the signal. The primary one is through the Green Audio Out jack on the back of the tower to the Green Audio In jack on the monitor. HDMI cable can also carry a audio signal.

Still no signal?
If not left click the icon and make sure the Mute Box is not checked.

Signal?
If not then right click on the icon. You will be given two choices from a small pop-up dialog box (Win XP and Vista OS), click on Adjust Audio Properties. Click the Advanced Button in the lower right side of the window that opens. Again a small window will open with Speaker Setup choices at the bottom. Go through the list and pick Monitor Mounted Speakers or if Stereo Monitor Stereo Speakers.

If there is a red mark through the icon follow all the steps above.
Remember to reboot your computer after every change.
Additional you may need to go to HP to update your monitor and sound drivers.

In the Adjust Audio Properties, at the top click on the Hardware tab. Now click the Properties button at the bottom. A window will open that should say "This Device Is Working Properly". If not then it's a driver issue. Click on the Driver tab of the same window and click Update Driver button. Sometimes this will work great sometimes not so great and you will need to manually install the drivers.
Let me now if you need any thing clarified or if you are still having trouble after trying the above.
Hope this helps.

My compiter sound is not working

If you are running windows,go to the bottom right-hand corner where the clock is and click on the little red arrow. A little row of icons pops out-there should be a little picture of a speaker, left click it and make sure the slider is all the way to the top and that the mute check-box is not selected. If that dosent help go to Start-Control Panel-Sounds Speech and Audio Devices-Sounds and Audio Devices and make sure that the Mute option isnt selected in the Volume or Audio Tabs. Also make sure that the volume slider are at maximum and that you click 'apply' for the changes to be applied.

No sound

Its real Funny monitor dont need driver to produce audio it needs connector and if you hvent manual here it is and find how to. You need audio cable. But if drivers arent installed on your pc audio computer dont produce audio and monitor also cant "say" anything. Find device magager and ensure that every device works correctly. If not wrire motherboard model and name and post then I find drivers for you.

I have acer al1917w A monitor but no sound

There is no sound driver, they are speakers, they work off of the audio output jack on the back of your PC, on the motherboard. If you have the sound drivers installed for the motherboard, and no sound, then you have plugged the monitor audio cable into the wrong jack on the PC, or you have the settings wrong just as MIKE said above.

Audio driver not found

Hello sukhendu_gho ...
  • PROBLEM PLACEMENT: All Products > MONITORS > Troubleshooting > Generic problem for all Compaq MONITORS
  • "AUDIO driver not found"
  • "...here i have not found my AUDIO driver?"
Just so I'm absolutely clear:
  • You need AUDIO driver(s)?
  • Does your motherboard have on-board sound?
  • Do you have a seperate audio card? If so, what's the exact make/model/series?
The reason I ask is because the manufacturer (HP) of your Compaq Presario 7500 only offers Monitor, Modem, and ROM software/driver packages. Nothing for audio specifically or any composite/all-in-one packages [http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&lang=&product=94505].

Please post back with answers and/or clarification, and we can try again.

No sound coming out of the speakers

This sounds like a driver or settings issue. Go into control panel and open up the sound and audio devices control. Go to audio and make sure that the proper sound card is selected for playback and recording. If you don't see your card listed in the drop down menu, try reinstalling drivers for your sound card or Sometime the driver might be for different version of windows. I've seen vista driver install properly in winxp, but no sound. Either that sometime it's the OEM driver provided by the chipset/soundchip manufacturer but differ from the one supply by board. Maybe the board manufacturer implemented a special design, thus the OEM default driver will not work. Other than that, it could also be the version conflict with another driver. Say your sound card driver is the older one, but you've updated your chipset driver to a newer one since your last install. The old sound card driver might not be compatible with the new chipset driver and so on.

Try download a full set of drivers for your system, that way you're sure all your driver is up to date
