I read the previous post regarding the the red convergence arc. I did find 2 resistors that look discolored. I am not sure if I am at the right board. I have 4 wires maybe five (for each color R G B) that come to a board on the right hand side bottom. Each marked R G B. It is the resistors numbered R2730 and R2736. Am I at the right board? Also I did try to change the convergence in the program state, only blue worked and red worked horizontally but not vertical. Is green fixed? Any help will be appreciated. the repair man said it would cost up to $500.00. We have a party this friday! So getting it fixed is most urgent... Thanks

Re: zenith red convergence problem.
Yes thats the right board if those two resistors are open the convergence ICs will need to be replaced as well. Its an easy repair. Heres a link where you can order the parts and recieve free installation instruction. If you need me to post the STK numbers and values of the resistors

Convergence is dead.Know how to solders?Replaced 2 Convergence ICS and all it resistors.Tries Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com for the convergence kit.The shop will cost u $300 for parts and labors.
You have bad convergence ICs, requires disassembly and soldering to replace, quan (2) stk392-120 can use 150s or stk394-160 also.
they are located on the SSM CBA facing back left side, many delicate cables , torx 10 screws also look for any discolored 6.8ohm resistors near the ICs, usually (2) burnt resistors. most shops charge around $300 for the job done in house. Also will need to check that the yoke aren't loose and tilted (philips had black tape on some). and you may need a fluid change by now on the Blue and green CRTs (a professional job for sure). good luck !
In order to assist further, more information is required. You indicate that there are some discolored resistors on the board. There should be a marking on the board at each location like: Rxxx Where the xxx is a number. If you can post the numbers here for the parts that are discolored, I can look them up in the service manual for you.
Hello, I have the exact same issue with my R49W36, I replaced the convergence chips but there are also two 1 ohm resistors with the same color pattern as yours that are bad. I have looked all over and cannot find a 1 ohm resistor anywhere. Where did you find it?
they wont show any signs of being bad if you cant adjust the convergence the ICs and possibly a few of the convergence resistors will need replacement. You can get new ICs and resistors at the following link and they come with free instaltion instructions. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Guess I should have looked to see that you had a second post. I justa answered one and here's some of the answers to my questions..
Brown - green - grey - gold would be a 1500m resistor and I would HIGHLY doubt they used something that intolerent in the convergence circuit... It's more likely to be a 1.5 ohm resistor which is brown - green - gold - gold and the grey you're looking at my just be discolored from heat stress...
Take a look at my previous post and tell me what you find after you make some comparisons.
Your convergence amp ICs are bad. You will need to replace both of them. Its an easy fix if you can solder. Check the resistors right next to the ICs also often 1 or 2 of them burn open when the ICs go out. Let me now if I can assist you further.
