Question about Cameras

4 Answers

My DZ-MV730E is malfunctioning. I have TDK DVD-R 1-2x 1.4gb disc in. Took several short vidios in succession then screen said RUN DISC REPAIR. I did not have DC power cord to run disc repair so decided to eject disc and repair it later. PROBLEM: The camera does not eject disc. I put charged battery on, press disc eject button, the indicator light comes on once for a half a second, there is a faint "click" but no eject motor noise and the disc cover does not open. When I turn the camera ON, I get the same thing, the indicator light briefly then the "click" but the screen stays blank and nothing works. Can you suggest anything? Is there a service centre I can send it to? The camera is a couple of years old and out of warrantee.

Hey there

personal experience? try banging but i do notadvice this becuase this will damage your player. unfortunately, there is no simple way to fix your problem. it has to be done by an expert technician with hands-on experience with fixing cams.

about your other question, you can bring your cam to a service center or repairshop which deals with electronic appliances repair. just explain to tyhem what specifically is happening and they should know what to do.

btw, where are you located? you can use Ekse's post and try to look for a technician that lives near you.

you can also contact their support by calling the number that bestdarngood provided. thanks for that man.

thanks for using fixya.

HI,

You can try this trick out first and see if it helps you.
Gently tap it twice at the end of the camera to ur palm and it will work again.
just tap it very lightly against the bottom of the camera holding it upright.

If this doesn't work then try giving it two three hard banging with your hands or just try tapping the camera on the table once.

Be carefull don't bang it that hard it may damage the cam.
And if the steps which i told you don't work then you will have to get it repaired.

Further you can download the user manual from HERE to find more troubleshooting steps.
You will also find the contact details for getting it repaired in the manual.

Goodluck,

if you want to get the disc out, you will need to open up the camera by unscrewing the outer screws but if you are not comfortable with doing this, I would just call the number above which is the manufacturer's support number and they can fix it for you. Good luck.

My Hitachi DVD-Ram R DZ-MV380A NTSC does not show the finalize option when I go there I am trying to finalize a DVD - R Sony. I know I have finalized these type of discs before on this camera.

Several issues come to mind. The problem may exist because it needs a firmware update, the dvd drive is becoming defective or the disc is defective. I hope this helps.

DVD Finalization

im guessing your talking about a new disc here , before you can do anything with the disc ,you will either have to format it or erase it, once you have donr that you can then use the disc and edit its contents. im assuming you are using the correct type of disc for your machine, eg dvd+rw or dvd-rw check the manual to make sure your machine can record onto a dvd+rw disc. hope this is of some help to you.

After burning home movies on dvd - they won't play on dvd player or computer --- says disk error. Software says disc was successfully copied

Be sure you purchased compatible discs for your DVD player, ie. DVD +R or -R. Some players won't support both.

DVD disc recording

Certain disc only work in certain recorders - I know this sound weird but you must find the disc that is compatible with the recorder that you are using. If the TDK discs is working continue to use the TDK discs. Even though the format and the specifications are the same on both disc, the readers does not read all disc.

Damaged DVD-R Disc

Try to play it by connecting camcorder through the ac adapter/charger which will further connect the battery, so this means you do not have to put the battery in the camcorder rather get it through the ac adapter/charger and format if it asks to. I recovered 1 disc by doing so!

Disc Eject won't work after improperly inserting disc and since removing it.

I have an DZ-MV780 with the same problem. I found that the cover plate around the flash hot shoe only has a single screw. If you remove it and pull up the cover you gain access to the gear and lock mechanism. Hit eject and if necessary press on the white gears you see in front of the zoom switch. It should then cause the door mechanism to unlock and open.
