My CD/DVD drive is not reading Rosetta Stone - Espanol Edition. It stars and spins, but then stops. OS: Vista SP2 Disk Drive: Unknown RAM: 3 GB - DDR2

Try playing a music CD to see if it works. Then try playing a DVD ( a DVD movie ) and see if that works. If the CD works and the DVD doesn't then your CD/DVD drive is probably the problem and needs to be replaced.

MY DVD/CDRW DRIVE IS NOT READING THE DISC i PUT IN.

check if you have connected properly the IDE cable or SATA cable from your drive going through your motherboard, if the problem continues, then the problem will be more likely on the lens of your drive. You should use CD / DVD Drive cleaner to clean the lens or use a vacuum to blow up dirt on your drive.

My DVD Ram drive is not reading any CD/DVD

The most common reasons for a power calibration error is a dirty lens or bad media. Clean the lens with a short burst of cabbed air or carefully wipe it with a cotton swab.
Good luck.

LG DVD drive stopped reading DVD's

Try re-installing the drivers. If that doesn't help get a new drive. Optical drives are one of the first things to break in a computer. Of course make sure everything is connected properly.

My dvd/cd drive is not reading cds and not recording. how can i fix this problem

Hello,

Check if the drive is identified by your O/S. Check if it is properly configured in BIOS. Check the connectors IDE/SATA & Power connector to the drive. If this doesn't help, check the same drive on other PC.

Otherwise replace with a new one..

Movies not playing

You might want to check if this happens for all DVDs or just one - sometimes scratches on a DVD can cause a computer to be unable to read the disk.

If it is a problem that applies to any disk, check if the disk is seated properly in the drive. Make sure there are no pieces of fluff or dirt that are keeping the disk from being properly seated in the drive.

As a last resort, open your PC and check that the cables running to the DVD drive are connected firmly by unplugging them and plugging them back in. Be sure to unplug your computer from the wall before mucking about with its insides.

Slow DVD playback

Playing DVD's requires a bit of constant transfer from the drive to the controller and from the controller to the RAM. First thing I would try is disabling background programs. One very likely culprit is if you have anti-virus software that is running a scan in the background.

Have you tried different DVD's? The problem could be the DVD drive is not reading the DVD properly. Have you tried different players? Different players sometimes work better. I would also suggest making sure that your sound drivers are up to date.
