Also problem with Denon AVR-2802

I also have a problem with the Denon AVR-2802. Worked fine in 5 years. This spring some of the channels started to drop out, and I returned it for repair. The terminals was soldered by the repairshop and it seemed to work fine after this repair. Now no sound is produced from the speakers (both in playback with tuner, dvd, cd-player and in the channel level configuration). If I just turn the reciever on in very high volume (-05) i could hear a very weak output in the speakers, almost as if the amplifier doesent add any amplification to the signal. Odd that so many on the web has this excact problems with the AVR-2802 after 4-5 years. no sound look like muting is press

Had same issue with an older Denon receiver.
The problem: "Tape A" was activated.
Pressing the "Tape A" button to deactivate the function solved my issue :-)

Check back with that technician. have him check what he did. if you do see similar cases on the net. what was their solutions?

there may be some parts on the board that may need replacement.

with regards to sweet_rascal and bestdarngood post,

the problem lies not on the item itself but in the standard operation of the item which is already years. try to follow bestdarngoods post and see if it will work.

thanks for using fixya.

In general, you should try resetting the microprocessor on any Denon receiver if/when you notice a problem especially when it may seem rather odd. (no obvious defects, while not operating properly)

Resetting procedure is similiar between the models; On units WithOut the Master On/OFF button; Unplug the power & while pressing both speaker A&B buttons simultaneously, plug in the main power cord. Youll notice the entire display would start flashing as long as A&B is held on---allow it to flash 3-5 times & release them. Unit is now reset to factory presets.

If resetting did not have an effect, then problem is more likely in volume control IC or it could even be the processor itself.

Let me know how this works out. Thanks and good luck

Denon AVR-3300 component channel switch burnout?

hi there, i don't have a solution unfortuantely, but i may have the same problem. I have a denon 2802 av receiver, i bought it second hand and I can't seem to get the component video in / out working. Are you supposed to just plug it in and it works? Because I can't find any buttons or settings to select component in / out as my input / output sources?

Denon 2802 amp

Dear Armani,

You cannot put de leads from an MP3 player or your TV into the pre-amplified connection of your Denon,
the phono "stage" is a low input stage, your input from MP3, TV, CD, DVD oscasetteplayer is high output (a 5 to 10 times stronger signal)
Try every other stage like tape 1 or 2, this will work just fine,

succes
