What kind of computer? Laptop/Desktop? Is the cable connected? Does the computer sound like it is starting up normally? (All disks and fans spinning as they should? Beeps? ) If you have speakers, can you hear if it tries to load windows?

So I just bought a Radeon HD 3450 graph card but after installing it in my ABIT IC7 motherboard the monitor doesn't display any signal upon starting the computer. Any ideas?

Test the card with another monitor first of all
I seem to think that this card requires a connection from the PSU ( check if there is a connection that would take a 12volt 4 pin molex or a floppy drive type power connector on the card)

Also, you should be running at least a 550 watt psu

Everytime i turn the monitor on i get a white box that says check signal cables, so i changed the cable with a brand new one and i still get the same result, is my monitor a goner

Hi, When you are getting the problem, is it after turning on the computer? Do you hear the windows starting? kindly check the computer tower if it is on or not. Usually the monitor will give you that message if the tower is not turned on.
Hope this helps.

Hi my dell inspiron 1520 not starting when power button is switched on..the power light blinks and goes off..and the system doesnt start. I had shown the laptop ito dell service center and they have...

The most common reasons are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

But, if you paid for the Dell service, Dell needs to fix the problem. Sounds like they replaced the motherboard with another faulty one.

Hope this helps.

I attach my monitor and turn the machine on and I get a black screen. When I pull the monitor cable out of from the monitor connection on the motherboard I get a color display on the monitor. What is...

When you disconnect the monitor cable, the display you see is from the monitor itself. It's telling you that the monitor has power and is working, but that you don't have the cable connected to your computer. So the trouble is in your computer, which isn't sending anything to the monitor.

Your computer may not be starting up when you turn on the power. This is pretty common, and may be due to a bad power supply or system board. Or something may be wrong on one of the devices connected to the motherboard (one of the drives or a card plugged in to an expansion slot). You'll need to figure out what is keeping the computer from starting. The easiest way is to unplug all devices from the motherboard except for the power supply and try starting the computer. If the computer starts up you'll know that one of those parts you disconnected is at fault.

Another possibility is that the video card (integrated video on the motherboard in most computers, or a separate card) isn't working. The computer may be starting up and getting in to Windows, but you just never get any video to the monitor. If you are hearing all the sounds of a normal startup (disk drive activity and then finally whatever startup sound your Windows makes), then you need a new video card. If the board has integrated video you just need to install a new plug-in video card of whatever type fits the available slot on the board.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

Blue light on Monitor keeps blinking when starting computer. computer screen doesn't turn on until about 5 - 8 minutes of blinking, then screen turns on . What's up with this ??

One bad/faulty lead can cause a computer with lots of problems
replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

Monitor 'black' with blinking power light

It helps if we know what kind of computer you have, and the model. Go to the manufacturer's support site online. (, or, etc) and search product support for your model # and then search for blinking lights or error lights + black screen or search startup problem and see if you can find the page that explains what the light codes for your system indicate.
Your power supply may have failed. See also link to startup troubleshooting here.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

My keyboard keep blinking

hi im josh in cebu phils.may i help you friend? just try this solutions o mine this will help you.
ry re-seating the video cable. Try another monitor on this computer if you have one available. Try this monitor on another computer. That will narrow down where the problem lies. It's either the video card or the monitor which is bad. Of course if either is under warranty you may get a replacement, if not get your credit card ready :-)
I would also look at the cable connection and see if there are any bent pins. This has caused issues for me in the past. Just be careful rebending the pins if any are bent. They are fragile and may snap off. good luck friend

Start up

Sounds like the monitor or video card is starting to go out. Substitute another monitor to see if it still does it.

P4vmm2 doesnt boot,Y?

Hi yansky, When you turn the computer on do you see or hear any of the following: -Does the power LED turn on and if so for how long? -When you turn you power on listen closely for any sounds like hard drives or fans starting up. -Does anything show on your monitor, if yes what exactly? -When turned on do you hear any beeping sounds from the computer? If you do listen for the pattern of long and short beeps and let us know what they are. If you see absolutely nothing you should try testing the socket the computer is plugged into. Fuses blow, power strips die cords develop shorts so unplug the computer and plug in a lamp to verify you?re getting power. If that doesn?t turn up anything let us know the answers to the questions above plus any other observations and we?ll try to help.
